Vietnam's economic outlook for positive growth
On October 17, the National Economics University organized the 7th international scientific conference on Contemporary Issues in Economics, Management and Business (CIEMB 2024). Experts discussed and made many proposals to promote sustainable economic growth.
According to Dorsati Madani, senior economist of the World Bank in Vietnam, Vietnam's economic outlook for 2025 and 2026 remains positive with growth forecast at 6.5% for both years compared to the expected 6.1% for 2024.
Dr. Dorsati Madani recommends that in terms of policy, in the coming time, to promote economic growth, Vietnam needs to increase public investment disbursement - to make up for the investment shortage in the past decade.
Financially, encourage banks to improve their capital adequacy ratios. Strengthen the institutional framework, prudential supervision and early intervention, including stronger legal protection for supervisory authorities.
On capital markets, structural reforms are needed, strengthening the regulatory environment in key backbone services (information and communications technology, electricity, transport). Further strengthening regional trade integration and connectivity to help build resilience to external shocks. More closely integrating the domestic private ecosystem into global supply chains. In particular, upgrading the skills of the workforce.
What should Vietnam do in the face of new trends?
In the presentations of the speakers at the Workshop, they all talked about new trends in the world such as green transformation, circular economy and digital transformation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the workshop with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Prof. Dr. To Trung Thanh - National Economics University - said that it can be said that the new trends mentioned by the speakers play a very important role in helping the world economy overcome short-term and long-term difficulties.
This also has a huge impact on Vietnam. Currently, Vietnam also has many strategies for developing the digital economy, green economy, and corporate economy.
"In the current period, Vietnam's economy, looking at the components of aggregate demand, has had better growth compared to last year, but compared to the period before the COVID-19 pandemic, it is still quite far away.
Therefore, to develop and grow sustainably, at this time, Vietnam needs to focus on policies on the aggregate supply side and strategies on developing a green economy, circular economy, digital economy, digital transformation... These are important foundations to promote aggregate supply in the long term, ensuring good economic growth in the future" - Professor, Dr. To Trung Thanh emphasized.
This is the largest international conference organized annually by NEU, aiming to create opportunities for domestic and international researchers, scientists, and managers to exchange, share information, discuss, and publish scientific research works as well as experiences in fields related to economics, administration, and business.
