On the evening of November 12, Miss Vietnam Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy excelled over 70 contestants from around the world to win the Miss International 2024 crown.
This is the first time a Vietnamese representative has won the title at this contest, the previous highest achievement belonged to Thuy Van (3rd runner-up in 2015).
Notably, there are many interesting coincidences in Thanh Thuy's victory at Miss International 2024.
First, beauty fans realized that Thanh Thuy has many similarities with Miss International 2019 - Sireethorn Leearamwat from Thailand.
At the Miss International 2019 season, this is the first year Thailand personally sent a Miss Thailand to attend Miss International and was crowned.
This is also the first and only representative up to now of Thailand to win this contest.
Similar to Thanh Thuy, she is the first Miss Vietnam to be sent to Miss International and is also the first time representing Vietnam to be crowned at this contest.
Previously, both Thanh Thuy and Sireethorn had never participated in any other international beauty contest.
Another coincidence surrounding Thanh Thuy's victory is related to the previous beauty queen.
Many people have realized that in recent years at Miss International, if the previous beauty queen is a Venezuelan beauty, then in the following season, the successor will be a representative from Southeast Asia.
Specifically, in 2015, beauty Edymar Martinez from Venezuela was crowned, then in 2016, beauty Kylie Verzosa from the Philippines was crowned.
In 2018, Mariem Velazco from Venezuela was crowned, then the following year (2019) Sireethorn Leearamwat from Thailand won the crown.
In 2023, Andrea Rubio from Venezuela became Miss, and this rule continued when Thanh Thuy brought the crown to Vietnam in this year's season (2024).
Next, Miss International's communications director - Mr. Stephen Inventor Diaz, shared on social media that he shares the same birthday as Thanh Thuy (July 1), creating another special connection.
In the Miss International final night, Thanh Thuy appeared in a cherry blossom-inspired dress by designer Le Thanh Hoa, similar to the color and design concept of the beauty queen's crown.
More specifically, the crown is sponsored by Vietnam and will be used as a rotating crown from 2022, replacing the old crown.
Not stopping there, when Thanh Thuy was crowned, many people looked back at Thanh Thuy's response at the announcement and sash handover ceremony for the Vietnamese representative at Miss International 2024 and realized the coincidence.
Accordingly, when Ms. Pham Kim Dung humorously commented that Vietnamese representatives who participated in Miss International such as Thuy Dung, Tuong San, Phuong Anh all got married after the contest, Thanh Thuy had a witty response: "Only the representatives get married, but Miss International doesn't."
This smart and humorous answer accidentally became a reality when Thanh Thuy brought the Miss International crown to Vietnam.
