On April 11, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province said that for large-scale renewable energy projects, the province will continue to propose and coordinate with ministries, central branches and Vietnam Electricity Group for implementation.
However, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested the provincial authorities not to propose projects exceeding the targets according to the Power Plan VIII. In addition, power projects must not overlap with projects that have been and are being implemented.
Previously, in Gia Lai province, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has just completed and put into operation the Ia Ly Hydropower Plant expansion project with a capacity of 360 MW, with a total investment of up to VND6,399 billion.
Currently, EVN is researching and proposing to invest in two floating solar power projects on the lake surface of hydropower plants with a total capacity of 1,026 MW.
Specifically: Floating solar power project on Ia Ly lake (726 MW) and project on Se San 4 hydroelectric lake (300 MW).
In addition, EVN also proposed expanding two existing hydropower plants: the expanded Se San 3 hydropower plant (130 MW) and the expanded Se San 4 (120 MW).
EVN representative recommended that the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee continue to support the investment and construction of power projects according to the National Power Plan.
EVN representative suggested that the province report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to update and add the above-mentioned above-mentioned solar power and hydropower expansion projects to adjust the Power Plan VIII.
