In a telegram this afternoon (September 13) sent to agencies, departments, and People's Committees of centrally-run provinces and cities, Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc said that due to the impact of storm Yagi, the agricultural sector in some localities suffered heavy damage and disrupted the transportation of goods in some places.
At some points, there has been a shortage of some items such as vegetables, fruits, food, drinks... as well as local price increases in some areas, causing difficulties for people's daily life and consumption.
The Minister of Finance requested agencies and units to continue to promote and strengthen price management and operation measures.
At the same time, flexibly and effectively use tools and measures to regulate prices according to the provisions of the law on prices to control and stabilize the market. Strengthen the effective implementation and supervision of price declaration and posting measures; publicize price information; organize inspections and checks on compliance with the law on prices, and strictly handle violations of the law on prices.
Continue to promote information and propaganda work, ensure timely and transparent information on prices, especially price developments of important materials and essential goods related to production and people's lives to limit expected inflation and stabilize consumer psychology after storms and floods.
The Minister of Finance requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to closely monitor market price developments, supply and demand of goods in the area, especially essential food and foodstuffs for people, monitor the market of goods at wholesale markets, shopping centers, supermarkets to prevent shortages, price speculation, strictly handle acts of taking advantage of emergencies, incidents, disasters, natural disasters, epidemics to unreasonably increase prices of goods and services for profit; ensure and facilitate the circulation of goods, especially to remote areas, areas affected by storms and floods; seriously and effectively organize the synthesis, analysis, forecasting of market prices and reporting of market prices in the area in accordance with regulations.
In the first 8 months of the year, the price management and operation work has been implemented synchronously by the Ministry of Finance under the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government - Head of the Price Management Steering Committee, accordingly, ministries, branches, localities, and organizations have drastically implemented many solutions and achieved many positive results, contributing to controlling inflation.
