Waiting all day to buy gold
The gold market in Hanoi on October 14 continued to record an upward trend. SJC gold bar price reached 146 million VND/tael, while 9999 plain gold rings at some enterprises were adjusted to more than 146.5 million VND/tael.
This increase comes as the world gold price surpasses the 4,100 USD/ounce mark.
According to Lao Dong reporters on October 14, many people went to jewelry stores on Tran Nhan Tong Street and Cau Giay Street to buy gold.
Although it has been early in the morning, many people still have to leave empty-handed when stores have temporarily stopped selling or only issued limited purchase vouchers.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau store (Cau Giay - Hanoi), Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hai (Yen Hoa ward, Hanoi) said he had been present since 5am but had not yet been issued a purchase voucher by the end of the day. He shared: "I lined up very early but until 5:00 p.m. the store still couldn't issue a voucher."
Mr. Tuan Hai added: "A few days ago, I also went to queue early but the store did not issue vouchers. After many consecutive days of not being able to buy, I was worried that if the price increased, it would be even more difficult.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Tuyet Le (Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi) shared: I have been waiting since morning but there is no more gold to buy, so I have switched to buying silver. In the morning, some people were able to buy 10 taels, but at around 3pm, each person could only buy a maximum of 5 taels".
Gold price update
As of 5:45 p.m., DOJI Group listed the price of SJC gold bars at VND 144.1-146.1 million/tael (buy - sell); Bao Tin Minh Chau listed it at VND 144.9-146.4 million/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, Phu Quy Gold and Gemstone Group listed the price of SJC gold bars at 143.5-146.1 million VND/tael (buy in - sell out).
For 9999 gold rings, DOJI Group listed at 143.9-145.9 million VND/tael (buy - sell); Bao Tin Minh Chau listed around 143.6-146.6 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, Phu Quy Gold and Stone Group listed the price of gold rings at 143-146 million VND/tael (buy in - sell out).
Regarding world gold, at 5:45 p.m. (Vietnam time), the listed price was around 4,137 USD/ounce.
