Despite increasing fuel costs, many technology drivers and shippers said they are still trying to find ways to adapt to maintain their jobs.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tai - a technology driver in Dien Hong ward said that recently he proactively received applications according to a more reasonable route to save gas.
“Before, I accepted any application, but now I have to check the distance. I also try to drive steadily, limit sudden acceleration to save gas” - Mr. Tai said.
Some drivers said that they have to adjust working hours to compensate for increased fuel costs. Instead of only running in a few fixed hours as before, many people take advantage of operating almost throughout the day, especially during peak hours when travel and delivery demand increases sharply, in order to optimize income.
Mr. Tran Van Hung - a technology car driver in Tan Son Hoa ward said that he has to refuel at least twice a day to ensure enough fuel to run the car.
“Previously, each time I poured about 70,000-80,000 VND, I could run for quite a long time. But these days each time I poured, it's more than 100,000 VND, so I have to run overtime, almost from early morning to late at night to increase income and compensate for gasoline costs,” Mr. Hung shared.

In the context of the fuel market still fluctuating, technology car companies said they will closely monitor the situation and flexibly adjust support programs to suit reality. The goal is to maintain a sustainable balance between driver income, passenger travel costs and long-term stability of the platform.
Be car company said that immediately after gasoline prices increased on March 7, within 48 hours, the unit proactively implemented a fuel cost support program for partner drivers on a nationwide platform, instead of waiting for the market to adjust itself.
At the same time, in the context of strong fluctuations in raw material prices, the company is committed to accompanying to maintain stable travel charges for users in the face of complex developments in the fuel market. Currently, this platform has not adjusted the service price structure and will continue to closely monitor the actual situation to ensure reasonable travel costs for passengers.
Be's representative said: "With more than 500,000 partner drivers operating nationwide, the business understands that each fuel price increase directly affects drivers' daily income. Therefore, in the coming weeks, Be will implement a financial support program to promptly accompany drivers to overcome difficult times.
Accordingly, the support level will be flexibly adjusted depending on the type of vehicle and the operating level of each driver, up to 800,000 VND/month/driver for each target group. Detailed information will be sent directly to drivers through the Be Driver application.
