World oil prices today
World oil prices simultaneously fell sharply. At the end of yesterday's trading session (September 16), Brent oil price decreased by 2.92 USD, equivalent to 2.7%; WTI oil price decreased by 3.32 USD, equivalent to 3.1%.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities continued to decline. At 8:18 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 102.12 USD/barrel, down 0.31 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.30%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 102.43 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 101.95 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 105.48 USD/barrel, down 0.10 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.09%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 105.58 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 105.57 USD/barrel.
World oil prices turned down after information that Saudi Arabia offered to sell more crude oil through Oman, contributing to cooling concerns about the risk of supply disruption from the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia is supplying more crude oil to oil refineries in Asia by transferring oil between ships at Sohar port in Oman. This move is aimed at reducing the impact from the drone attack that damaged the East-West oil pipeline to the Red Sea.
However, oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz remained low. Preliminary ship tracking data on September 16 showed that only 4 cargo ships passed through this strait on September 15, down from 7 on the previous day and much lower than the average of 18 trips/day in the last 10 days.
