World oil prices today
In the past week, world gasoline and oil prices increased sharply. WTI crude oil increased from 99.22 USD/barrel at the end of last week to 91.99 USD/barrel at the end of this week. Overall last week, WTI oil prices increased by 7.78 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 9.32% compared to the end of last week.
Brent oil increased from 95.85 USD/barrel at the end of last week to 104.47 USD/barrel at the end of this week. Over the past week, Brent oil prices increased by 8.62 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 8.99%.
World oil prices recorded a strong weekly increase amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The increase comes after Iran announced that it would respond to US attacks by targeting energy infrastructure across the Middle East. The involvement of commercial oil tankers in confrontational activities increases the risk of disruption of energy transportation in the region.
Investors continue to be cautious about new developments. If the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened and oil flow has not been restored to stability, supply may continue to be under pressure in the near future.
