
The forum was organized by the Vietnam Economic Science Association, the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Vietnam Economic Magazine, under the direction of the Central Committee for Policy and Strategy.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Tran Luu Quang - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, Head of the Project Steering Committee - emphasized that this forum is a space for representatives of Government agencies to present action plans, expressing strong determination in implementing high growth targets. At the same time, this is also a place for the business community and experts to give advice and make proposals to help Vietnam realize the aspiration for rapid growth while still ensuring sustainability.
In the context of many fluctuations in the global economy, Vietnam has set an ambitious growth target: GDP will increase by 8% in 2025 and surpass the double-digit mark (from 10% or more) in the period of 2026 - 2030. This is a turning point goal, requiring close and synchronous coordination between the Government, ministries, branches, local governments and especially the business community.
When traditional growth drivers such as resource exploitation, public investment, cheap labor or processing and exporting are gradually declining in efficiency and sustainability, the Vietnamese economy is facing the inevitable need to find new breakthrough drivers.
How to create a strong enough "push" to transform the growth model, bringing the country into a new development chapter: prosperity, sustainability and autonomy - becoming a vital strategic question. This is not only an economic challenge, but also a big problem in terms of vision, institutions and action capacity.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister - pointed out the issues that need to be done to realize the growth aspirations set out.
"I hope that all scientists will contribute more opinions to build an important system of solutions for rapid development in the coming time. Especially businesses need to have proposals and recommendations in accompanying the State to implement the country's high growth goals" - Mr. Dung emphasized.
At the forum, leaders of corporations, businesses, and associations representing sectors and industries shared practical information, assessed the growth breakthrough opportunities of each industry in the coming period, contributing to the overall growth of the economy.
Many opinions say that quickly and thoroughly removing barriers is a prerequisite to realizing the goal of high and sustainable growth. Along with that, it is necessary to create breakthrough mechanisms and policies to promote the development of new economic models, strategic industries with high added value, competitive enough in the global value chain.
According to the Organizing Committee, the VEGF forum is expected to be held annually with a plenary and regular session or on-demand with thematic sessions, to enhance policy and practical connection. Thereby, creating a channel for exchanges and dialogues between policy-making agencies and implementation entities.
Annual dialogue activities at the forum will contribute significantly to the supervision and evaluation of the implementation of resolutions, policies and guidelines of the Party and State. At the same time, it strengthens the spirit of determination, consensus and efforts of the subjects in realizing the goal of high and sustainable growth in the coming period.
