People expect a successful crop
Hai Duong is currently one of the key fabric growing areas in the country with a total area of about 8,800 hectares, including 2,850 hectares of early fabric and 5,850 hectares of main season lychee fabric. Thanh Ha district - the capital of the province's seaweed province, occupying more than 3,000 hectares, is notably the communes of Thanh Quang, Vinh Cuong, Thanh Hong, where the fabric fields are entering the ripening season with brilliant red color and plump fabric, signaling a bumper crop.
It is expected that this year's fabric crop in the whole province will reach an output of about 60,000 tons, of which early fabric accounts for 32,500 tons and main fabric in the crop is about 27,500 tons. Thanks to favorable weather, the productivity and quality of this year's fabric are highly appreciated.
In the lychee gardens, the harvesting atmosphere has begun to be bustling. Compared to last year, this year's fabric price has increased by an average of 10,000 VND/kg. The thorn egg fabric of Ms. Le Thi Anh's family (Thanh Quang commune) was sold for 42,000 VND/kg. "My family had to wake up from early morning to harvest in time for orders. This year, the fabric is beautiful and fruitful, traders come to the garden, so everyone is excited - Ms. Le Thi Anh shared.
Hai Duong Seaweed is also produced according to a safe process, with 12 growing areas meeting GlobalGAP certification and 56 areas meeting VietGAP, a total area of 721 hectares.
Export market is bustling
According to Thanh Ha District People's Committee, farmers harvest more than 1,000 tons of fabric each day for domestic export and consumption. As of June 1, the price of fabric ranged from 30,000 - 35,000 VND/kg. Many traders, especially from China, have arrived early to buy fabric in Thanh Quang, Vinh Cuong, Thanh Tan communes - where more than 30 large scale points are concentrated.
This year, early fabric is highly appreciated for its quality: Beautiful coffee, even fruit, fresh coffee shoots compared to previous crops, thanks to which export activities are smooth. To serve the process of preserving and transporting seaweed, the district also has 3 cold ice production facilities and 1 foam box production facility, meeting the packaging needs according to export standards.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hien - Director of Thanh Quang Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative said that egg white fabric is being purchased at the garden at a high price of 80,000 - 100,000 VND/kg.
"The government still recommends that people only harvest when the fabric reaches suitable ripeness to ensure product quality, especially when put on the export market" - Mr. Hien emphasized.
With the proactiveness of farmers, the active participation of the government and positive signals from the market, Hai Duong's 2025 seaweed crop is expected to continue to affirm the Thanh Ha - Hai Duong seaweed brand in the international market.
