On January 1, representatives of the Mountainous Region Development and Central Highlands Processing Wind Power Plant (headquartered at No. 18 Hung Vuong, Dien Hong ward, Gia Lai province) confirmed that two wind power projects have officially been put into commercial operation (COD) from December 22, 2025.
After a long period of overcoming shortcomings and limitations due to overlapping planning, construction and land use purpose conversion, the two projects have met operating conditions and been granted electricity licenses to buy and sell electricity to the market.
Electricity Trading Company (EPTC), belonging to Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), has issued a document agreeing on the COD time of both plants starting from 08:00 on December 22, 2025.
According to the license issued, the Mountainous Development Wind Power Plant (managed by Chu Prong Gia Lai Wind Power JSC) has a capacity of 49.5 MW (15 turbines, 3.3 MW per turbine), with a total investment of 1,916 billion VND, built in Bau Can, Ia Tor and Gao communes.
The plant is connected to the national power system through a 110 kV line to Dien Hong - Chu Se substation. The license is valid until November 23, 2015.
The Tay Nguyen Processing Wind Power Plant (managed by Chu Prong Gia Lai Wind Energy Joint Stock Company) has a capacity equivalent to 49.5 MW (15 turbines × 3.3 MW), with a total investment of 1,917 billion VND, built in Bau Can commune.
This plant will be connected to a transformer station belonging to the Mountainous Development Wind Power Plant. The license is valid until October 20, 2045. The total investment of these two wind power plants is nearly 4,000 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung - Chairman of Bau Can Commune People's Committee said that the project put into commercial operation will contribute to increasing budget revenue, socio-economic development, creating a "wind power field" landscape to serve tourism, creating jobs and improving social security.
