The meeting aimed to promote trade and investment cooperation between the EU and Vietnamese business communities.
According to the Customs Department, the meeting was attended by more than 40 representatives from many large European corporations operating in Vietnam in fields such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemicals, logistics, express delivery, e-commerce, etc.
At the dialogue, EU businesses expressed special interest in plans to modernize customs, transform digitally and deploy a national one-stop mechanism in the coming time. These are considered key contents, associated with the direction of the Vietnamese Government to facilitate trade, while strengthening the prevention and control of smuggling and origin fraud.
In addition to positive reviews, the European business community also proposed and recommended a number of issues related to specialized management policies, especially problems arising in the process of implementing customs procedures for imported and exported goods.
In full recognition of the opinions from businesses, representatives of the Customs Department shared about the roadmap for building digital customs and expanding the national one-stop mechanism. These are identified as important foundations for innovating customs management methods, both facilitating production and business activities and improving the effectiveness of risk management and controlling illegal trade.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Au Anh Tuan - Deputy Director of the Customs Department highly appreciated the constructive proposals from the ASEAN - Europe Business Council and EuroCham. At the same time, he suggested that the EU business community continue to accompany and contribute opinions in the process of perfecting policies, especially regulations related to specialized management.
The leaders of the Customs Department emphasized that the Vietnamese Customs sector is committed to maintaining a regular dialogue channel with international associations and enterprises, thereby coordinating to find solutions to harmonize benefits, both supporting enterprises and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of customs.
This dialogue activity continues to affirm the orientation of building a transparent, modern and integrated business environment of Vietnam Customs, accompanying the international business community in the process of promoting sustainable trade and investment in Vietnam.
