Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 10th Vietnam - Japan Festival in Da Nang City in 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee - said that this year's Festival took place at a very special time, just a few days after the (new) Da Nang City was officially established on the basis of merging the old Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province on July 1, 2025.
This event not only has the meaning of opening a new development journey of the city but also creates more open opportunities for cooperation and exchange between the new Da Nang City and partners and localities of Japan - a country with a longstanding friendship and friendship with Vietnam.
On the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and Japanese partners and localities has been continuously deepened and expanded in recent times.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, in this colorful and meaningful space, many unique economic cooperation and cultural exchange activities imbued with the national identities of both countries will take place in the coming days.
In particular, 3 outstanding activities of the 10th Festival this year are the welcoming ceremony of the first direct flight connecting the route between Kansai and Da Nang, this is a positive signal for the recovery and strong development of tourism, economic and trade cooperation.
The second is the Conference "Meeting Japan in Da Nang: Promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan" which took place successfully. This is an opportunity for Da Nang City and its partners and localities in Japan to look back on the recent cooperation results.
The third is that this Vietnam - Japan Festival takes place in a special historical context, when the newly established Da Nang City.
The consolidation of cultural and historical space between Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province, including Hoi An heritage - the origin of the trade relationship between Vietnam and Japan from more than 400 years ago, creates a premise for the Festival in the future to expand in scale, raise the level of organization, contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries and peoples.
Notably, at this year's Festival, there are more than 100 enterprises from 2 countries, along with local enterprises with unique OCOP products, bringing the Vietnam - Japan Festival a rich, vibrant and multidimensional appearance.
