Phu Tho town is the oldest town in Vietnam with over 121 years of age. In recent years, with the development of economy and society, the urbanization process has taken place rapidly, but the technical infrastructure system in this ancient town is not synchronous, there is no centralized wastewater collection and treatment system. Meanwhile, the goal is that by 2030, Phu Tho town will be upgraded to a type II urban area - a city directly under the province.

On December 26, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Phu Tho Town Construction Project Management Board (the investor's representative unit managing the project) said that the Phu Tho Town Wastewater Collection and Treatment System Construction Project has selected a contractor for the construction package.

According to the approved contractor selection results, Tu Lap Construction Company Limited is the winning bidder for the equipment installation and construction package (including traffic assurance, power cut-off, exploitation and dumping fees, and contingency) with a price of nearly 294 billion VND.
With the above results, Tu Lap Construction Company Limited (headquartered at 3010 Hung Vuong Street, Van Phu Ward, Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province) will construct the project within 1,200 days.
According to the project documents, the contractor will build a wastewater collection system in three inner-city wards of Phu Tho town, Au Co, Hung Vuong and Phong Chau. The goal is to build a system to collect, transport and treat urban wastewater, and put the system into operation by 2028.

Previously, on November 28, 2023, the People's Council of Phu Tho town issued Decision No. 69/QD-HDND, approving the project to build a wastewater collection and treatment system in Phu Tho town, with a total investment of 330 billion VND from the state budget and other legally mobilized capital sources.
