Why build data centers?
With the continuous development of technology and the explosion of data, the demand for data storage and processing is increasing. According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, data in Vietnam is growing faster than the global average, requiring 4 to 5 additional data centers (IDCs) with a scale of 2,000 racks each year to meet the demand. IDCs are equipped with advanced security systems, helping to protect data from threats and ensure business continuity. This is especially important in the context of increasing cyber security threats. Moreover, IDCs play an important role in the national information technology infrastructure, considered the "backbone" of the digital economy. IDCs not only ensure data safety and security but also support the digital transformation process, helping businesses and organizations operate more effectively. Developing modern IDC centers is a key factor for Vietnam to catch up with global technology trends and promote the development of the digital economy. Currently, Vietnam has about 30 data centers (IDCs), accounting for less than 1% of the total number of global data centers. IDC centers in Vietnam are mainly concentrated in large cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Discover IDC Hoa Lac - The most modern data center in Vietnam
VNPT's IDC Hoa Lac data center was inaugurated on October 25, 2023. This is VNPT's 8th data center and is considered the largest and most modern in Vietnam; with a scale of up to 2,000 racks and a total usable area of 23,000m². Compared to other data centers, IDC Hoa Lac is built according to Uptime Tier III standards, ensuring continuous and safe operation even during maintenance or repair. The equipment at IDC Hoa Lac is provided by famous brands such as Cumin, Hitachi, Siemens, and complies with international standards such as IEC 60364, IEC 61439-1&2, IEC 61641, IEC 60947-2.
IDC Hoa Lac's infrastructure system is equipped with 3N/2 redundancy, which helps increase the ability to expand scale in the future and ensure continuous operation even when performing repairs and maintenance. The center is operated by a team of experienced experts and engineers, who are deeply trained in Data Center and have achieved many international certificates. IDC Hoa Lac's security access control system has up to 6 layers of security, from lane doors, metal detectors, magnetic cards, fingerprints, ensuring the safety of the center's operations and the highest level of customer data security.

IDC Hoa Lac provides a diverse service ecosystem, including rack space rental, Internet connection services (Internet services at IDC, multi-directional VPN services, network management and monitoring), cloud computing services (public virtual servers, private virtual servers, infrastructure transformation consulting), and expert services (IDC consulting, design and IDC certification roadmap consulting).
Recently, on December 6, 2024, VNPT IDC Hoa Lac was "chosen" by Hanoi City to host the Capital's main Data Center. With the operation of the main Data Center, Hanoi is becoming a leading locality in considering data as the "lifeblood" of a modern city. The Data Center is the core technology infrastructure, ensuring a safe and effective information storage, connection and processing platform for management systems and public services... playing a core role in building a smart city ecosystem, aiming to build a digital government.
As the leading telecommunications and information technology group in Vietnam, VNPT has affirmed its position with a system of 8 modern data centers (IDC) that meet international standards. The latest IDC center in Hoa Lac is not only a technological breakthrough but also a testament to VNPT's commitment to accompanying the government and businesses in the national digital transformation process.
