Market Management Team No. 12 - Hanoi Market Management Sub-Department has just transferred the case file with signs of criminal violations, related to the business of smuggled cigarettes in Khuong Dinh ward (Hanoi) to the police agency for investigation according to their authority.
Previously, implementing the inspection decision on June 2, Market Management Team No. 12 in coordination with Khuong Dinh Ward Police conducted an inspection of business activities at the establishment at No. 81 Alley 29/78 Khuong Ha, Khuong Dinh Ward.
Through inspection, functional forces discovered and temporarily seized 8,280 packs of cigarettes of all kinds (equivalent to 828 cartons of cigarettes) manufactured abroad. All goods were not affixed with imported cigarette stamps issued by the Ministry of Finance and did not have invoices or documents proving legal origin.

According to Market Management Team No. 12, the case shows signs of violating the provisions of Article 190 of the 2015 Penal Code on the crime of producing and trading in prohibited goods.
Based on the provisions of law, Market Management Team No. 12 issued a decision to transfer the dossier of the violation and exhibits to Khuong Dinh Ward Police for further investigation, handling, and prosecution of criminal liability according to regulations.
The case shows that the situation of smuggling cigarettes is still complicated, when subjects continuously find ways to bring goods of unknown origin into the market for profit. This activity not only causes revenue loss to the state budget, affects a healthy business environment but also poses potential risks to consumer health because products are not controlled for quality and origin.
Over the past time, the Hanoi Market Management force has strengthened coordination with functional units in market inspection and control, promptly detecting and handling acts of trading in prohibited goods and smuggled goods.
The transfer of files of cases with signs of crime to the investigating agency shows the determination to fight and strictly handle violations, contributing to ensuring market order and protecting consumer rights.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the police agency for handling according to the provisions of law.
