On January 7, Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee organized the Launching Ceremony of the 2026 Economic Census. This is an activity to collect basic information about the operations and production and business results of 4 types of survey units nationwide, including: Enterprises, Cooperatives; public service units, Associations; foreign non-governmental organizations; individual production and business establishments, cooperative groups; religious and belief establishments.
The time and roadmap for implementing the General Investigation are divided into 2 phases of data collection. Phase 1 (from January 5th to March 31st, 2026) implements information collection from individual production and business establishments, cooperative groups and religious and belief establishments.
Phase 2 (from April 1 - August 31, 2026) implements information collection from foreign businesses, public service units, associations and non-governmental organizations.
To implement the 2026 Economic Census in the area, Lai Chau province has gathered 95 investigators; 11 team leaders and 38 supervisors at all levels deployed in 95 areas with 871 villages, hamlets, and residential groups.

Also on January 7, the Dien Bien Phu grassroots statistics office (Dien Bien province) organized the launch of the 2026 Economic Census.
According to the plan, from January 5th to the end of March 31st, the Dien Bien Phu grassroots Statistics Office will deploy surveys in all 355 villages and hamlets in 7 wards and communes managed by the unit, using direct and indirect information collection methods.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, investigators simultaneously went to the grassroots level, carrying out investigation and information collection according to the set plan.
