On April 28, according to PV's investigation, Nhat An Phu Joint Venture Auction Company - Lao Cai Branch 2 announced the organization of an auction for the right to exploit 2 mineral mines in the province, including the Ngoi Thia stream sand and gravel mine (Xuan Ai commune, Van Yen district) and the limestone mine for construction materials in Lang Muong village (Khanh Hoa commune).
Notably, both areas have not yet had exploration results, but the total value of exploitation rights is estimated to be more than 9 billion VND, attracting the attention of many businesses in the construction materials sector.
Specifically, Ngoi Thia sand and gravel mine has an area of 2.8ha, expected reserves of more than 570,000m3, starting price of 5%, corresponding to the amount of exploitation rights granted of more than 7.14 billion VND; deposit of more than 3.57 billion VND and minimum financial capacity requirement of about 654 million VND.
Meanwhile, Lang Muong limestone mine is 2.3ha wide, reserves nearly 495.300m3, starting price 3%, estimated value of more than 1.86 billion VND, deposit of more than 560 million VND, but requires a minimum financial capacity of over 1.063 billion VND due to higher exploration costs.
According to the plan, the auction will take place on May 26, 2026 at the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, in the form of direct voting, bidding up to a maximum of 10 rounds.
Participation applications are accepted until the end of May 10, participants must complete the deposit from May 20-22, 2026.
Tightening financial conditions and auction procedures is expected to select capable investors, limit the situation of "holding a mine" and then abandoning it, and at the same time improve the efficiency of management and exploitation of mineral resources in the locality.
