Informing Lao Dong Newspaper on September 3, Vietnam Airlines said that in preparation to serve the increased travel demand at the end of the year, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) officially opened early ticket sales for the 2026 Lunar New Year.
The peak period lasts from February 2 to March 3, 2026 (ie from December 15 to January 15 of the lunar calendar), with a total of more than 3.5 million seats sold on the entire domestic and international flight network, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period last year.
From September 3, passengers can buy Tet 2026 tickets on the website, mobile application, ticket offices or official agents of Vietnam Airlines.
This is the first ticket sale based on the approved flight schedule. Vietnam Airlines Group will continue to monitor market demand, balance aircraft resources and allocate Slot to open sales for the following periods, making it more convenient for people to plan their travel during Tet.
As usual, peak flights will be concentrated between the three major cities of Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and key localities such as Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hue, Quy Nhon, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc...
Of which, the number of seats provided on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route increased by nearly 18%, the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route increased by nearly 9%, and flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, and Hue increased from 9% to 13% over the same period.
In parallel, Vietnam Airlines Group also increased the exploitation of international flights between Vietnam and Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore... to meet the trend of people traveling during Tet.
To increase the choice for passengers, Vietnam Airlines continues to arrange many flights in late evening and early morning.
During the 2026 Lunar New Year, the proportion of night flights accounts for nearly 20% of the total number of flights. The exploitation of this additional time frame helps optimize operational capacity, reduce daytime pressure and create more flexibility for passengers.
Along with the increase in load, Vietnam Airlines Group has proactively increased human resources and ground services to provide maximum support to customers during the peak period.
The airline is also committed to ensuring absolute safety and maintaining service quality for passengers.
Vietnam Airlines Group recommends that passengers proactively plan and book tickets early to have a suitable itinerary, and pay attention to buying tickets only through ticket offices, official agents or on the airline's mobile application and website to avoid the risk of fake tickets and tickets being increased during peak season.
