More than 3,100 hectares of crops damaged by floods
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province said that the storms that have lasted for more than 10 days have seriously affected many areas specializing in vegetable and tubers cultivation in the province.
According to statistics, the whole province has more than 10,800 hectares of crops of all kinds affected and damaged by floods. Of which, the damaged crop area accounts for more than 3,100 hectares.
For example, in Hiep Thanh commune, information from the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command said that about 200 hectares of crops in this locality have been affected. Of which, dozens of hectares of vegetables and tubers were severely damaged.

Through a survey, leaders of Don Duong, Hiep Thanh, Quang Lap, Ka Do communes, Lam Vien - Da Lat wards, B'Lao wards and many key vegetable growing localities in the province confirmed that the prolonged heavy rain in late October caused severe flooding, damaging hundreds of hectares of vegetables, tubers, fruits, etc.
Vegetable and vegetable prices skyrocket
According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the sharp decrease in vegetable output has caused the supply to not meet demand, pushing vegetable and root prices at markets and supermarkets in Lam Dong many times higher than before the storm.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, a vegetable and vegetable retailer at Bao Loc market, said that after prolonged floods, vegetable and vegetable prices are skyrocketing.
Before the storm, the prices of popular Da Lat vegetables such as: Spinach, water spinach, Malabar spinach, squash... increased from only 7,000 - 9,000 VND/kg, now it has increased to 16,000 - 18,000 VND/kg.
Meanwhile, the prices of herbs previously only ranged from 20,000 to 30,000 VND/kg. But in recent days, it has skyrocketed to 55,000 - 60,000 VND/kg but there is still a shortage of vegetables for sale.
Similarly, Ms. Tran Thi Lien, a trader at Lien Nghia market, Duc Trong commune, said that on October 25 and earlier, the price of lot lot lettuce only fluctuated from 15,000 - 17,000 VND/kg.
However, now that it is scarce, she has to import seaweed from seaweed for 45,000 VND/kg.

For fatty lettuce from mid-October, it was only 17,000 VND/kg, now it has increased to 50,000 VND/kg, but it is still very scarce, so there are no vegetables to sell at noon.
Vegetable buyers in Da Lat, Duc Trong, Ka Do, Thanh My... to bring to Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces for consumption are also facing difficulties in goods sources after a long period of floods.
Vegetable output has dropped sharply, so they have to accept buying at double or even nearly tripled prices compared to before to be enough to supply wholesale markets.
Similarly, traditional vegetable growing areas of the (old) Binh Thuan province such as Ham Thang, Ham Liem, Binh Tan... also suffered heavy damage due to prolonged floods.

In recent days, dozens of hectares of short-term vegetables have been deeply flooded, completely damaged, and many areas cannot be harvested, causing heavy damage to vegetable growers.
This has led to an interruption in the supply from vegetable growing areas in Lam Dong province, causing the green vegetable market to be severely affected, causing supply to not meet demand and pushing vegetable prices up.
Due to the impact of storm No. 13, it is forecasted that in the coming days, Lam Dong province will continue to experience prolonged heavy rain. The price of vegetables and tubers has increased and is expected to continue to increase in the coming days.
