Farmers miss the good price of ruoi, traders are "thirsty" for goods
At this time, the ruoi vuon o Vinh Long should have been fruitful, bringing joy to the people. However, many farmers are regretting that their gardens do not have fruit to sell, even though market prices are high because most farmers are allowed to sell off-season.
Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Pham Minh Phu - a farmer with more than ten years of experience growing ruoi in Long Ho - said: "My family has 5,000m2 of ruoi ruoi, but this year we are focusing on processing the fruit to sell for the Lunar New Year. Therefore, in the main crop from April to August of this year's lunar calendar, my garden has no fruit to sell. The price of crab for the first crop has never been as high as this year, but I missed it so I feel very regretful".

This situation also causes difficulties for traders.Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phu, a trader specializing in purchasing agricultural products for export and supplying the market in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong, could not hide her impatience.
Currently, in the coastal communes of An Binh, Long Ho district, the number of shrimp in the ripe season for sale is very small, accounting for less than 10% compared to previous years.
Beautiful Thai ruoi is currently priced from 50,000 - 55,000 VND/kg, Java ruoi is priced from 20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg.If it is exported packaged goods, the price can be up to 35,000 - 40,000 VND/kg.
Spreading the crop to stabilize the market
The shortage of supply clinging to the main crop is not only a concern for each farming household or trader but also considered by management and cooperative levels as an issue that needs to be solved.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nhan - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Binh Hoa Phuoc Turtle Cooperative - said that the cooperative currently has 66 members with about 42 hectares, growing 3 main types of shrimp: Java, Thai and sugar shrimp.

"All gardens in the cooperative are treated to produce fruit in the off-season, that is, from October of the previous year to after Tet. Therefore, although the price of ruoi ruoi is at a very high level, the cooperative does not have ripe fruit to sell on the market," Mr. Nhan shared about the general situation.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Lam Tien Dung - specialist of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Long Ho district - said that the whole Long Ho district currently has over 1,700 hectares of various shrimp and ruoi, concentrated in the coastal communes of An Binh, especially Hoa Ninh commune and Binh Hoa Phuoc commune.
According to statistics from the agricultural sector, the whole district currently has 4.5 hectares of ruoi an that are ready for harvest, in addition, over 160 hectares are blooming for the next crop. The agricultural sector has advised people not to focus all their areas on processing fruit in the off-season.
"Spreading crops not only helps stabilize the market, minimizing risks for farmers when prices may fluctuate unexpectedly, but also creates conditions for exporting enterprises to have a stable source of goods, enhancing the reputation of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market," Mr. Dung added.
