Gasoline and oil in HCMC are still abundant
Records in Ho Chi Minh City show that gasoline and oil business activities at stores are still operating normally, and there has not been a shortage of supply. At many gas stations in the city, the number of customers coming to refuel remains stable, mainly serving daily travel and production and business needs.
At a gas station on Vo Thi Sau street, the number of vehicles coming to refuel is regular, there is no long queue. Store staff said that the number of customers in recent days has increased slightly, but in general there is no significant change compared to the previous period.
As a person who regularly travels by motorbike, Mr. Tran Viet Dung (resident of Binh Thanh ward) said that he still refuels according to daily travel needs. According to him, although he has heard information that world gasoline prices may fluctuate due to the Middle East situation, he has not seen any unusual signs in the market at present.
I have heard that world gasoline prices may fluctuate due to the Middle East situation, but currently I still buy normally and have no intention of storing more" - Mr. Dung said.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Anh (resident of An Dong ward) said that stockpiling gasoline and oil is unnecessary in the context that the distribution system in Ho Chi Minh City is quite convenient. According to her, people can easily find gas stations near their homes or workplaces, so they do not worry about a shortage of supply.
Each time I only pour about 50,000-70,000 VND as before. Seeing that gas stations still sell normally, I don't worry about being short of money" - Ms. Kim Anh shared.

Businesses commit to stabilizing supply sources
According to some gasoline and oil businesses, the current reserves are still guaranteed according to the sales progress and are capable of meeting market demand.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of Petrolimex Saigon said that the enterprise currently has 138 affiliated stores, supplying an average of about 2,108 m3 of gasoline and oil per day. Regarding the source of goods, the unit affirmed that it still maintains stability and proactively plans to import additional goods. In the first 10 days of March, Petrolimex Saigon is expected to import about 146,000 m3 of gasoline and oil; plus the existing inventory is sufficient to meet market demand for about 39 days.
PVOIL representatives also said that the enterprise has proactively prepared inventory to ensure supply to the market until the end of March and early April. At the same time, the unit also developed scenarios to supplement the source of goods in case consumption demand continues to increase in the coming time.
Faced with the context of the world energy market having many fluctuations, Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade proposed that businesses proactively seek more alternative sources of supply, especially to compensate for partners located in conflict zones.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that it will create favorable conditions for energy supply activities in the area. This agency is committed to quickly and flexibly resolving administrative procedures related to electricity, gas and gasoline; issues beyond its authority will be summarized and reported to competent authorities for consideration.
The Department will also coordinate with the Department of Construction to study a plan for tanker trucks transporting gasoline and oil to circulate during peak hours when necessary, in order to ensure that the gasoline and oil supply is always smooth for the city market.
