What is coconut milk?
Coconut milk is a milky, high- calorie liquid extracted from the grated pulp of old coconuts. Coconut milk is a delicious, sweet and fatty drink that can replace cow's milk in some cases of lactose intolerance or following a vegetarian diet.
How to make coconut milk at home

- One and a half cups of fresh grated coconut
- 4 cups of water

Step 1: Prepare 1.5 cups of fresh grated coconut and 4 cups of water. You should choose ripe, old coconut to get rich and creamy milk.
Step 2: Boil water until hot. Hot water helps extract milk from coconut pulp effectively.
Step 3: Add hot water to grated coconut and mix well. Mix the mixture in batches so that everything is well combined and the coconut is completely crushed.
Step 4: Filter the mixture after mixing well using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove coconut solids. Squeeze the cloth or press the solids with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
Step 5: Squeeze out all the water and repeat the process until done.

- To preserve homemade coconut milk, follow these steps:
- Use a sealed container: Pour coconut milk into a clean glass jar or sealed bottle for storage.
- Refrigeration: Always refrigerate milk if not using it immediately. Normally, homemade coconut milk can be kept for 3 to 4 days.
- Shake well before opening: Coconut milk can separate into cream and liquid if not stirred. Shake the container well before use to mix again.
- Freeze for long-term preservation: Coconut milk can also be frozen for longer preservation. Place in an ice tray or freezer-safe container and the milk will last up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and make sure to shake well before using.
