From people to drivers: choose "green" to save and live cleanly
Sitting at a Xanh SM charging station in Cau Giay district (Hanoi), Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, a driver with 5 years of experience running Grab, shared: "Before, I ran a gasoline car, which cost both fuel and put pressure on commissions. Since the end of last year, I have moved to SM green. Not only is charging cost lower, but retained income is also higher due to low platform fees.
Mr. Trong is no exception. According to many other drivers, switching to electric vehicles is a common trend. Especially in the context of fluctuating gasoline and increasingly strict emission regulations, electric vehicles have become a solution that both reduces financial burdens and is environmentally safe.
Ms. Tran Thi Huong - an office worker in Thanh Xuan District (Hanoi) - shared the reason for often choosing SM Green to travel: "The car is clean, has no smell of gasoline, the driver is polite. Therefore, I have not called for gasoline vehicles but only called for electric vehicles whenever I needed them.
The wave of electric vehicle transition was strongly promoted after the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment announced the draft decision regulating the roadmap for applying national emission standards for cars in circulation.
From the numbers: SM blue maintains the throne, increasingly far surpassing its opponent
After just over 1 year of operation, Xanh SM has had a spectacular breakthrough. According to a report by Mordor Intelligence, in the first quarter of 2025, Xanh SM will account for 39.85% of the technology taxi market share in Vietnam, surpassing Grab with 35.57%.
Compared to the fourth quarter of last year, the gap between the two companies has been widened by nearly 3 percentage points.
More than a year ago, in the fourth quarter of 2023, Grab was still leading the market with more than 50% market share, while SM Green had only reached 18.17%. However, thanks to the strategy of expanding the "three-legged" area including private fleet, platform open to individual drivers and cooperation with traditional taxi companies, Xanh SM has quickly expanded coverage and controlled service quality.
The three core operating indicators of daily flight numbers, average revenue and customer satisfaction are all leaning towards SM Green. The user survey also shows that customers highly appreciate the cleanliness of the vehicle, professional service attitude and easy-to-use application interface.
According to the draft roadmap for applying emission inspection of cars in circulation in Vietnam as follows:
Automobiles manufactured before 1999 apply level 1 from the effective date of this Decision.
Automobiles manufactured since 1999 apply level 2 from the effective date of this Decision.
Forced fire-affected motor cars and compression-ignitioned motor cars manufactured from 2017 will apply level 3 from January 1, 2026.
For cars with license plates registered in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for installing extortion engines and cars with compression internal combustion engines with a year of manufacture from 2017, the level 4 will be applied from January 1, 2026.
