Petrovietnam and the two words "Love"

Trúc Lâm |

Throughout 50 years of construction and development, the Vietnam National Group of Industry and Energy (Petrovietnam) has always identified corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a pillar in parallel with the task of production and business.

In its sustainable development strategy, the Group considers social security work not only an important political task but also a "n noble humanitarian mission" associated with the corporate cultural identity.

The PTSC Hai An oil and gas service ship rescued fishermen in distress at sea in 2023 - a vivid illustration of the spirit of mutual love and community responsibility of Petrovietnam units on the front line of the sea and islands.

Having gone through many historical periods, despite having to face countless difficulties at times, Petrovietnam has always carved deeply in its corporate culture the core value of "Love". The public knows Petrovietnam with outstanding economic contributions:

Petrovietnam is currently the largest enterprise in Vietnam and 11th in Southeast Asia, with a total assets of over VND1 million billion and equity of over VND556 trillion. Petrovietnam's total revenue to date has reached 605 billion USD. Petrovietnam is the enterprise with the highest budget contribution among Vietnamese enterprises. To date, Petrovietnam has contributed about 142 billion USD to the budget.

In particular, Petrovietnam is always in the group of enterprises implementing the highest social security. Since 2011, Petrovietnam has carried out social security work worth more than VND10.3 trillion. It can be said that the value of "Love" of Petrovietnam is slowly spreading, becoming a red thread throughout the Group-level orientation to each specific action of the employee.

Quietly spreading the mission of "Love and Compassion"

As one of the best enterprises implementing social security and social responsibility in Vietnam, Petrovietnam's CSR strategy is clearly demonstrated through specific actions. The Group has created a humane corporate culture, with a core value system of "Aspiration - Intelligence - Professional - Loyalty". Compassion and loyalty to compatriots are considered the best qualities of Petrovietnam people. Therefore, despite operating in the challenging industrial - energy sector, Petrovietnam has left a deep impression as a charitable enterprise, always ready to "Accompany the country" with practical social security programs.

From 2011-2025, the Group has contributed up to 10.3 trillion VND to social security activities. Every year, despite the fluctuating oil and gas market, Petrovietnam still maintains a funding source of hundreds of billions of VND to support poor rural areas and localities affected by natural disasters, contributing to helping people stabilize their lives and confidently overcome difficulties. In particular, during the peak period of the COVID-19 pandemic, although the enterprise itself also suffered a double crisis (deeply decreased oil prices and epidemics), Petrovietnam still promoted its leading role, contributing more than 1,000 billion VND to support the country in preventing the epidemic.

Not simply numbers, the spirit of social responsibility is still permeated in Petrovietnam's philosophy and core values. From the Board of Members to the Executive Board, Petrovietnam always sets a consistent policy: Developing businesses associated with responsibility towards the people and the Fatherland. That spirit spreads to the corporations, member units and each employee, creating a flow of "love" throughout the Petrovietnam extended family. It is the strong participation of the Group level that has oriented and elevated all social security activities to become a sustainable culture.

Joining hands for responsibility to the community

The Group's major policy has been concretized by member units through many practical action programs, spreading across the country. From high mountains to remote islands, the footsteps of Petrovietnam people are traced through many persistent social security projects and touching acts of love. The most prominent is the movement to join hands to build a "Grand Unity House" for poor households, eliminating dilapidated temporary houses - a program with profound humanitarian significance, strongly responded to by the entire Group. In just the past few years, Petrovietnam and its member units have supported the construction of more than 5,800 Great Unity houses in the 2021-2025 period with a budget of nearly 300 billion VND, bringing a spacious home to thousands of families across the country. Those "loving" houses not only help people "asease" and stabilize their lives, but also warm the Party and people's affection - clearly demonstrating the spirit of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves" of the Petrovietnam extended family.

In addition to thousands of shelters being given, Petrovietnamese people are also present in time at all natural disaster and epidemic hotspots to share with their compatriots. For the 2023-2024 flood alone, Petrovietnam and its member companies have joined hands to contribute over VND92.3 billion to provide emergency relief and overcome the consequences in more than 22 affected provinces/cities.

Recalling the historic flash flood caused by Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3 in 2024) in Lao Cai: Petrovietnam has volunteered to take responsibility for rebuilding Kho Vang village - one of the areas that suffered the most damage. The image of the entire Kho Vang village "reviving" miraculously after the storm and flood - with bright smiles on the day of receiving the new house - has deeply imprinted the "Love of the Oil and Gas People" in the hearts of the people here. When mentioning this event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Petrovietnam's sense of community responsibility, affirming that Kho Vang village was completely rebuilt with funds supported by Petrovietnam - a worthy gesture.

In parallel with social security, Petrovietnam member units also actively join hands to protect the environment and contribute to sustainable development with the locality. Many programs for afforestation and greening of green hills have been implemented by branches and grassroots unions across the country, contributing to planting more than 1.2 million new trees in the 2020-2025 term. Oil and gas factories and works all strictly comply with safety and environmental regulations; at the same time, enterprises in the Petrovietnam ecosystem all attach importance to supporting the development of community infrastructure in each locality where they are located.

For example, PV GAS, PVEP, PVFCCo, PV Drilling, BSR, PQPOC, BIendsONG POC, PTSC, ... have coordinated to implement many tree planting programs in Ca Mau, Can Tho, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Hau Giang, Quang Ngai, Vung Tau, ... and the whole of Truong Sa, with more than 1.2 million trees planted, contributing to the restoration of mangrove forests, coastal protection forests and greening of green hills. PV Power, PVFCCo, PVCFC, Vietsovpetro, BSR... invest in and sponsor many practical social security projects such as schools, health stations, boarding houses, flood shelters and community welfare infrastructure in many localities, directly improving people's lives.

In particular, with activities spread across the East Sea, Vietsovpetro, PVEP, PTSC, PVTrans... units not only silently contribute to affirming and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, but are also always ready to support fishermen in times of trouble at sea. Drilling rigs and oil and gas service ships in the offshore area have become a solid "common home" for fishermen to avoid the storm, provide fresh water and food; in many cases, clusters of rigs and oil and gas ships have promptly rescued fishermen in distress, bringing safety to the lives of people making a living at sea.

Each member unit in the Petrovietnam corporation is a positive core in implementing the Group's CSR policy. From the houses of "The Love of Oil and Gas" that grow in remote villages, to new forests on barren land, or the charity ships to help fishermen - all exude the image of Petrovietnam people always " presence where the people need it". Diverse social security activities, from house building, school building, supporting education promotion funds, to supporting natural disaster prevention, epidemics... have contributed to changing many poor rural areas, bringing happiness to unfortunate lives, while contributing to socio-economic stability in many localities across the country. These silent but huge contributions have affirmed Petrovietnam's pioneering position not only in economic development, but also in the mission for the community, for the common sustainable development of society.

"Love" shines from each worker

The cultural strength of "Love" of Petrovietnam is clearly crystallized through each specific action of nearly 60,000 workers across the country. From leaders to workers and engineers, everyone considers sharing with the community as a natural responsibility.

The image of tens of thousands of people voluntarily working overtime on Saturdays to contribute to the disaster relief fund has become a fine tradition for many years in Petrovietnam. Typically, on September 21, 2024, all Petrovietnam employees swung their shirts to work on holidays, contributing their salary for a day's work to support the Central region affected by storms and floods. The enthusiastic atmosphere spread throughout the construction sites and factories from the North and South during the special " Volunteer Saturday" - everyone was excited because their daily sweat will help ease the pain of the people tomorrow.

From 2010 to present, every time the country has a major natural disaster, Petrovietnam has launched an additional holiday for staff to raise relief funds; there were peak years when the whole Group volunteered to work up to 10 days for this meaningful purpose. That is a vivid testament to the heart and social responsibility that is always present in every Petrovietnam person, regardless of position or expertise.

In addition to contributing labor, Petrovietnam workers also actively share with their own blood and kindness. The voluntary blood donation movement "The blood of the Oil and Gas people" has attracted a large number of officers and employees to participate across the units. In 2024 alone, this campaign has organized dozens of blood donations from the South to the North, collecting 2,457 safe blood units from 2,611 donors in the industry. If calculated from 2021 to present, Petrovietnam workers have donated a total of 25,700 units of blood - a proud number, demonstrating the act of saving nobility that comes from the heart of every oil and gas worker. The blood in their blood not only flows in the works and factories but is also flowing to save the lives of compatriots and comrades - that makes Petrovietnam's image even more beautiful in the eyes of the community.

Not only that, Petrovietnam also regularly conducts simple but meaningful charity activities initiated by the collective of workers. Youth unions and grassroots trade unions across the Group have organized many volunteer programs towards the community such as "Warm Clothes for Children", "Love Meal Box", " dien Street to Light Up the homeland", "Scarlet of Love Border and Island"... In the 2025 Youth Month alone, Petrovietnam's youth have contributed more than 6 billion VND, given 1,000 gifts, built 20 gratitude houses, donated 100 bookshelves and planted 30,000 trees in disadvantaged localities. Thousands of small gestures have been built into a large heart that encompasses difficult lives - deeply depicting the image of Petrovietnam people who are affectionate, responsible, ready to commit to the community and spread the beauty of corporate culture.

In particular, the spirit of "love" is also expressed in Petrovietnam's internal environment - where colleagues consider each other as brothers in a family. Petrovietnam culture emphasizes mutual care and concern: in cases where workers are sick, have accidents, or have families facing difficulties, they all receive timely visits and encouragement both materially and spiritually from the union and the labor collective. The Group's Retirement Relations Department regularly coordinates with the Trade Union to support retirees in difficult circumstances, build and repair houses for them to "feel the need for oil and gas" to continue to warm them even after they have left work. billions of VND have been allocated from the union fund to build "Union Shelters" to give to disadvantaged retired families in some units such as PTSC, PV GAS, Vietsovpetro... Those calm and warm actions have created a strong bond between generations of workers, so that everyone can proudly live and work in a large family full of love.

From the Group's strategic vision to the simple actions of each employee, everything has blended together to create a persistent and spreading "Love" flow of Petrovietnam. If we compare the Group to a consuming tree of the economy, then social responsibility is the living plastic that nurtures the trees, while Petrovietnam workers are the leaves that stretch far and wide to spread shade for life. The "Love Culture" has become a glue connecting the entire Petrovietnam system, fostering courage and soul for each member, while bringing the trust of society to the enterprise.

No matter the circumstances, Petrovietnam workers are constantly striving, working and contributing with a kind heart, worthy of Uncle Ho's wishes in the past for those who seek the Fatherland's fire. That has created a unique mark for Petrovietnam - a company that is always a pioneer for the community, always "accompanying the country" with all its intelligence, will and deep affection.
