At the international scientific conference "Ngoc Linh Ginseng - From national product to global brand" organized by Da Nang City People's Committee on the morning of August 2, scientists, managers and businesses worked together to find solutions to remove "bottlenecks" in the ginseng industry's value chain.
According to leaders of Da Nang City People's Committee, although the locality possesses rare gene sources and unique ecological conditions, the ginseng and medicinal herb production industry in general is still facing many barriers. The biggest challenge lies in the deep processing technology stage that has not broken through, the scale of production is still fragmented and the linkage chain between parties is still quite limited.
Mr. Ho Quang Buu - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee emphasized: "The city wishes to strongly promote links between the State, scientists and businesses, combined with expanding international cooperation to form a value chain from research to production, processing and commercialization of products.
According to experts, the commercialization of Ngoc Linh ginseng cannot only stop at the crude form or traditional ginseng roots, but it is necessary to promote technology transfer to create product lines with high scientific content, meeting the strict inspection standards of demanding markets.
Therefore, right at the event, representatives of agencies, research institutes and businesses at home and abroad signed memorandums of understanding (MOU) on scientific research, transfer of farming technology, processing and market development for Ngoc Linh ginseng.
Along with that, the display space for scientific research works, geographical indication documents and digital technology application solutions in tracing the origin of ginseng tubers also received great attention from international partners.
The reception of practical experiences from countries with strengths in the ginseng industry is expected to help Da Nang soon complete policies, creating a favorable environment to attract large pharmaceutical corporations. From there, gradually turn Ngoc Linh ginseng into a high-tech product with a national brand in the global market.
