On June 4, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province said that the province has recently coordinated with Binh Dinh province and the Ministry of Construction to report on the pre-feasibility study for the expressway project.
This report has been submitted by the Government to the National Assembly at the 9th session, 15th tenure, and is awaiting approval. Along with that, the provincial authorities are preparing a feasibility report, designing construction drawings, developing a bomb and mine clearance plan and implementing site clearance.
The funding for this work will be supported from both the central and local budgets. Regarding the source of materials for construction, the Provincial People's Committee has allocated a target of exploiting 1,800 hectares of land for leveling.
The province has also surveyed 60 fill mines with a total reserve of about 4 million m3 and 38 construction stone mines with a reserve of about 3 million m3.

The total reserve of construction materials including stone, soil, sand, gravel, etc. is expected to exceed 12 million m3, enough to meet the construction needs of the expressway passing through the province, and can even provide additional support for the section in Binh Dinh province.
The Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project is proposed in the form of public investment, with a total preliminary capital of more than 43,730 billion VND. The route starts at National Highway 19B (An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province) and ends at Ho Chi Minh road (Pleiku city, Gia Lai province), with a total length of about 125km. Of which, the section through Binh Dinh province is 40km long and through Gia Lai is 85km long.
The expressway is designed with 4 lanes, a 24.75m wide roadbed, and a design speed of 100 km/h. After completion, the project will make an important contribution to promoting trade, developing logistics services, transporting agricultural products, and enhancing inter-regional connectivity. Thereby, creating momentum for socio-economic development in the region.
Currently, Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces are mainly connected via National Highway 19, which has just been upgraded and expanded with a travel time between the two provinces of about 4 hours.
Like National Highway 19, the expressway project will cross the high mountains and forests at An Khe and Mang Yang passes. Therefore, the construction unit needs to drill the tunnel through the mountain and other modern technical construction measures.
