Quang Ninh 1 Wind Power Plant Project, invested by the Investor Consortium of Cuong Thinh Thi Construction Investment Group Joint Stock Company and Ea Sup 5 Joint Stock Company, is being built in Hoanh Bo ward and Thong Nhat commune (former Ha Long City), Quang Ninh province.
The research and survey area serving the project has an area of about 2,286 ha; the expected area for project use is about 92.54 ha.
The boundary of the project area mainly borders production forest land, the North borders production forest land of Dong Son commune; the South borders production forest land of Hoanh Bo ward; the East borders production forest land; the West borders production forest land of Quang La commune.
The project implementation area is mainly low hill terrain, sparsely populated, favorable for arranging wind turbines, internal roads, technical infrastructure and construction organization. The selected area does not overlap with land plots planned for transportation, tourism, production and business, national defense or protection forests, special-use forests, while still ensuring a safety corridor for existing power projects and the distance to residential areas.
The project location is assessed to have relatively favorable conditions for regional infrastructure connection, is located near existing traffic routes and is favorable for the plan to connect to the national power system.
The project has an installed capacity of 200 MW, arranging 32 wind turbines, expected capacity of 6.25 MW/turbine, with the total annual electricity output of the plant being about 566,499 MWh.
The main items of the project include the wind turbine area; traffic road system serving construction and operation; management and operation building; internal collecting power system with medium voltage; overvoltage transformer station and power transmission connection line.
The project's technology is the technology of converting wind kinetic energy into electricity through wind turbines, combined with transformer systems, electrical equipment and power lines to integrate into the national power system.
Quang Ninh 1 Wind Power Plant Project is a project to develop power sources using renewable energy, belonging to the group of energy projects suitable for the orientation of shifting the power source structure towards increasing the proportion of clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring national energy security.
The project is already in the planning and plan to implement the adjusted Power Plan VIII and is determined capacity according to Decision No. 768/QD-TTg dated April 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister on adjusting the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021–2030, vision to 2050.
The operating term of the project is 50 years, calculated from the date the investor is allocated land or leased land.
Quang Ninh 1 Wind Power Plant project is one of 14 wind power projects that Quang Ninh province is calling for investment in.
Including 9 onshore and near-shore wind power projects, 5 offshore wind power projects.
In addition, Quang Ninh is also calling for investment in solar power plant projects, biomass power, and gas power.
Currently, Quang Ninh is one of the largest thermal power centers in the country, with 7 thermal power plants, with a total capacity of about 5,640 MW.
