Gia Lai - Renewable energy project investors continue to propose open and transparent mechanisms and policies to focus on socio-economic development.

On February 23, Gia Lai Provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that according to the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 (adjusting Power Plan VIII), the total capacity of renewable energy projects in the province is expected to develop at about 9,657.1 MW.

In which, wind power has 74 projects with a total capacity of 5,431 MW; solar power has 24 projects with a total capacity of 1,530 MW; hydropower has 48 projects with a total capacity of 1,553 MW.

In early 2026, a series of power projects in Gia Lai were implemented after considering factors of efficiency, conformity with planning, land use plan, environment and construction.

Projects that Gia Lai province is requesting investors to accelerate progress include: Van Canh Wind Power Plant (Binh Dinh); Ia Boong - Chu Prong; Van Canh 1, Van Canh 2; Vinh Thanh Wind Power Plant.

Large-scale solar power projects include: Ia Ly (Gia Lai); Krong Pa 2 and Phu Thien solar power plants; Chu Ngoc, Trang Duc solar power plants; An Khe biomass power plant...

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Sen - Director of Gia Lai Urban Works Joint Stock Company, to aim to make Gia Lai a capital of renewable energy, exploiting its potential well, the enterprise proposed that the provincial government create conditions and soon include some eligible projects in the general plan.

For the Tay Ho Wind Power project, with a capacity of less than 50 MW, it is already in the Power Plan VIII for the period 2031–2035. The project is agreed to be connected by the Central Power Corporation, facilitated in terms of land because it is already available to businesses, and can be implemented immediately in 2026.

The enterprise proposed that the Provincial People's Committee allow adjustments to the project implementation in the 2026-2030 period, creating conditions for feasible projects to be implemented immediately, without obstacles in connection and land.

For the water surface solar energy project in Bau Can, which has dual-use conditions, favorable for agricultural irrigation, and also has a favorable location for connecting and clearing capacity, the water surface is already available, specialized agencies can soon put it into the general plan so that the project can be implemented soon.

At the beginning of 2026, a series of wind power projects worth trillions of VND in Gia Lai were licensed for electricity and put into commercial operation after many years of legal procedures.

Specifically, the Mountainous Region Development Wind Power Plant and the Central Highlands Processing Wind Power Plant (headquartered at No. 18 Hung Vuong, Dien Hong ward, Gia Lai province) are officially put into commercial operation (COD). The two projects have a total investment of nearly 4,000 billion VND.

After a long period of overcoming shortcomings and limitations due to overlapping planning, construction and land use purpose conversion, the two projects have met the operating conditions and been granted electricity licenses to buy and sell electricity to the market.

At the same time, the entire Ia Pech and Ia Pech 2 wind power plant projects (total capacity of 99 MW) have officially gone into commercial operation. This is a wind power project cluster with a total investment of about 3,500 billion VND.

In 2026, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee proposed that businesses in the area raise their brands and reach international levels, in order to achieve the province's economic growth target of no less than 10%.

The province is committed to accompanying, supporting, and creating maximum favorable conditions for businesses and investors with capacity and experience, especially in the fields of high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, and digital transformation.
