Busy fruit season on Moc Chau plateau

Son La - Autumn, crispy persimmons, grapes, avocados, oranges, tangerines... are successively in season, people in Moc Chau plateau are busy harvesting, consuming and welcoming customers.

In the early autumn days, many fruit tree growing areas on Moc Chau plateau enter the harvest season. Nearly 12,000 hectares of fruit trees bring a rich source of fruit to the market.

From crispy persimmons in Thao Nguyen ward, grapes and avocados in Moc Son ward to oranges, tangerines, and yellow passion fruit in Van Son ward, gardeners are busy harvesting, classifying and bringing fruits to the market.

In Thao Nguyen ward, crispy persimmon gardens are in season. Trees are fruitful, branches are heavy under the weight of persimmons that are changing color. People take advantage of harvesting in batches, classifying and then packing them in boxes for traders to come to the garden to buy.

Mr. Hoang Van Tan's family, Cho Long residential group, has more than 2 hectares of crispy persimmons. This crop, the family plans to harvest about 15 tons of fruit. Persimmons are sorted before being sold, the price ranges from about 40,000-60,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

Not only selling to traders, some households also open gardens to welcome visitors to visit, take photos and experience picking fruit. The lush persimmon gardens become destinations in the harvest season, while creating more outlets for products.

In Moc Son ward, Ha Den grape and milky grape gardens are cared for in greenhouses and greenhouses. Grape bunches are wrapped and carefully cared for before harvesting. Some gardens combine production with welcoming guests, for tourists to visit, pick grapes themselves and buy grapes at the garden.

Milk grapes are priced at about 200,000-250,000 VND/kg. This is one of the high-value fruits that Moc Chau gardeners put into production and combined with experiential tourism exploitation.

Avocado is also present in the fruit season in Moc Chau. The fruit after harvest is sorted, sold at gardens, agricultural business points or taken for consumption in many localities.

Along with familiar fruits, yellow passion fruit and golden star apple also appear at sales points. The diversity in types, colors and harvest times helps the Moc Chau fruit market become richer in the autumn months.

Meanwhile, in Van Son ward, orange and tangerine gardens are also starting to be harvested. The clusters of fruits on the trees are picked and selected by people and then brought to selling points or supplied to traders.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, Vat Hong village, Moc Chau ward, said that during the fruit season, the amount of goods increases, and they are consumed at gardens, points of sale along National Highway 6, markets, restaurants and tourist areas.

According to Ms. Loan, each type of fruit has a different harvest time, helping sales points continuously have new products. This is also the time when growers focus on harvesting and consuming, and tourists have more choices of local fruits.

Ms. Tran Thi Huong, Chairwoman of Thao Nguyen Ward People's Committee, said that the locality is encouraging people to improve the quality of fruit trees, focusing on production processes and connecting consumption. Some households combine gardens with sightseeing and experiential activities to increase product value.

Along National Highway 6 through Moc Chau, many points of sale display all kinds of seasonal fruits, creating a bustling atmosphere on the plateau. The fruit season both increases income for growers and supplements products for tourism and tourist experiences.
