These days, Tet flowers in Sa Dec Flower Village (Dong Thap Province) have begun to bloom, and many traders have begun to come to buy and sell them elsewhere. Although there are still 2 weeks left until Tet, many gardeners said they have finalized prices with traders. According to many people, this year the Tet flower market is more promising.
Preparing for this year's Tet flower crop, Mr. Dang Hoa Binh - residing in Tan An hamlet, An Hoa ward, Sa Dec city, Dong Thap province - planted more than 5,000 pots of flowers of all kinds. Because he prioritized planting new flower varieties that are popular in the market and have beautiful flowers, up to this point, all of the Tet flowers in his garden have been ordered by traders.
“This year, I planted an area of about 2,000 square meters. The main products are 1,500 pots of Korean raspberry chrysanthemums and 1,500 pots of Pico chrysanthemums. The rest are other popular flower varieties such as shooting stars, coconut vegetables, primroses, etc. Currently, customers and the construction side have taken all the goods. This year, when I first planted them, I was very worried, but now they have sold out, so my family is very happy,” Mr. Binh said happily.
Sharing the same excitement with Mr. Binh, Mr. Le Van Minh - residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, Tan Quy Tay commune, Sa Dec city - also expressed his joy when more than 2,000 Tet flower baskets including marigolds, cockscombs, and sunflowers, although the flowers had not yet bloomed, had been almost all ordered. Mr. Minh happily said: "This year seems to be better than last year. The flowers had not yet bloomed but tourists had already bought almost all of them. There are still a few left, so they will probably be sold out by Tet and then take a break, so there is no need to bring the flowers to the Tet market anymore."
Mr. Dang Quang Giau - Head of the Tan An Flower and Ornamental Plants Cooperative, An Hoa Ward, Sa Dec City - said that following the success of last year's Tet flower crop, this year, the members of the Cooperative have tripled the number of multi-colored chrysanthemums to about 10,000 baskets. Thanks to experience from the previous crop, this year, all flower pots were processed to bloom in time for Tet.
“Currently, about 80% of the flowers on the trellis have been ordered by traders. It is expected that these flowers will remain on the trellis for visitors to take photos for about 10 more days before being delivered to traders,” Mr. Giau excitedly said.
It is known that the area of ornamental flowers serving the Lunar New Year market at Sa Dec Flower Village is about 100 hectares, supplying about 2 million flower baskets of all kinds. According to many farmers, this year, although the selling price has not increased compared to last year, the purchasing power of ornamental flowers is somewhat better, so people are also excited.
These days, when coming to Sa Dec Flower Village, people can feel the bustling atmosphere of the flower village. Vehicles line up to transport ornamental flowers to the gathering place to bring flowers to all over the place for consumption. With these positive signs, people in the flower village hope for a successful Tet flower crop.
