At this time, farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village (Dong Thap province) are busy taking care of the flower fields that have been planted to serve the Lunar New Year 2025.
It is noted that, after the success of causing a fever in the 2024 Tet flower market, this year, multi-colored raspberry chrysanthemums (also known as multi-colored raspberry chrysanthemums, Korean raspberry chrysanthemums) are prioritized by farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village to grow with a sharp increase in quantity. Preliminary statistics show that this year, farmers planted more than 100,000 baskets of multi-colored raspberry chrysanthemums, 3 times higher than last year.
According to many farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village, Korean chrysanthemum is a rather difficult flower to grow, requiring a long care period of about 3.5 months. Therefore, from around the 8th lunar month, farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village have started planting to bloom in time for Tet.
When starting to plant, gardeners must turn on the lights at night for the plants to grow well, so the investment cost is quite expensive compared to other types of flowers. Only turn off the lights when starting to treat the plants to flower. A gardener said: Currently, farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village have turned off the lights and started treating the plants to flower in time for Tet.
Korean raspberry chrysanthemums come in many colors, but there are 6 main colors that people choose to grow: red, orange-red, dark red, yellow, pink and purple. With a variety of colors and a round canopy, this type of flower has caused a big buzz and sold quite well during Tet 2024.
Previously, during the 2024 New Year, many gardeners and traders growing multi-colored chrysanthemums in Sa Dec City were happy to successfully grow this flower for the first time with more than 11,000 pots and continuously "sold out".
It is known that the selling price of each pot of multi-colored raspberry chrysanthemums on the occasion of New Year and Lunar New Year 2024 ranges from 180,000 - 200,000 VND. Although many traders and customers come to visit and ask to buy, the garden has no flowers to supply.
Sharing with Lao Dong on the occasion of New Year 2024, Ms. Dang Bich Huyen (Dong Nai province) said: "I came to Sa Dec when the weather was hot but had to go to this flower field with my family to take pictures. I planned to buy more flowers to decorate the house but unfortunately the flowers were out of stock. Anyway, I am very happy that flower farmers are doing well in business."
Ms. Le Thi Tho (Can Tho City) also said: "Before that, I contacted to order some flowers for my family but there were no more. Arranging free time for Tet holiday, my family and I came here to visit and felt very happy because there was still a chance to see colorful flowers blooming."
According to the Economic Department of Sa Dec City, the area of ornamental flowers serving the Tet market in 2025 is about 100 hectares, with a quantity of about 2 million baskets, including chrysanthemums, roses and other short-term flowers.
