In recent years, along with the strong digital transformation process, policies related to account management, electronic invoices, tax management for business households or promoting the private economy are gradually creating major changes in financial and commercial activities.
In that trend, digital payments are seen as "gateways" to help people, small traders and small businesses access modern financial services such as credit, savings, cash flow management, e-commerce and many other digital financial utilities.
In particular, the expansion of digital payments and transaction data standardization are opening up opportunities for millions of small businesses to transparently manage financial activities, improve management capacity and access official capital more easily. This is also considered an important step to help the individual economic sector participate more deeply in the digital economy.
On May 26, at the press conference announcing the 2026 Financial Day program with the theme "Smart payments promote digital finance", Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Director of the Payment Department (State Bank) said that 2026 marks many important changes in state management of the banking - finance sector. On a fairly solid payment infrastructure platform, the current goal is to move towards forming a comprehensive digital financial ecosystem.
This year's program does not only stop at promoting cashless payments but also aims for a higher goal of comprehensive finance, helping all people, from urban residents to small traders in traditional markets, to access transparent, safe and effective financial services" - Mr. Tuan emphasized.

In the context that Ho Chi Minh City is assigned a double-digit GRDP growth target, the industry - trade sector is also linked to many specific targets to promote modern consumption and trade.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that the city's Industry and Trade sector is focusing on developing infrastructure, implementing solutions towards a civilized and modern shopping and consumption model; in which cashless payment and digital payment play an important role.
According to Mr. Phuong, promoting digital payments not only serves the need for more convenient transactions but also contributes to building a transparent business environment, improving service quality and meeting the development trend of the digital economy.
From that orientation, the 2026 Digital Finance Day program is organized with the goal of promoting smart payments, while building a comprehensive digital finance ecosystem so that all people can access modern financial services conveniently, safely and equally.
The program takes place from May to September. Through this activity, business households are supported to standardize digital payments, connect smart payment solutions, promote cross-border payments and improve the experience for international tourists. Not only changing payment methods, many business households are also gradually participating in a more transparent and modern digital financial ecosystem.
