Purchasing power of car escape hammer products increases sharply
Information about the draft National Technical Regulation on inspection of motor vehicles participating in road traffic, replacing QCVN 122:2024/BGTVT, is receiving attention. In which, the regulation that vehicles that are not equipped with specialized window breaking tools will fail registration has promoted the demand for purchasing this item to increase significantly.
According to the new draft, the error of lacking windows breaking tools or not fully equipped according to the correct number of escape doors will be transferred from the MiD group (disadvantages, damage are not important) to the MaD group (disadvantages, damage are important). This means that vehicle owners are required to fully equip these tools to complete vehicle inspection procedures for traffic.
Real-world records at some auto accessory stores in Hanoi show that escape hammer items are being sought after more by drivers. These products are relatively diverse in style, design and price. The cheap segment is mainly plastic hammer types with traditional orange-red colors, with small blades used to cut seat belts in the handlebars. Meanwhile, higher-priced product lines will have a spring-pounding design, are compact and can also integrate flashlights.
Not only at car accessory stores, when contacting a store specializing in selling fire prevention and fighting equipment in Tu Liem ward (Hanoi), reporters were also quoted a price of 91,800 VND for a 250 gram fire escape hammer product. A representative of this unit said that the store is currently importing more goods because customer demand has increased sharply in just the past 1-2 days.

Surveying on e-commerce platforms, just searching with keywords such as "car escape hammer" or "car window breaking hammer", a series of diverse products with prices ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands of VND will be proposed, along with quite easy ordering operations.
The proactive mentality of drivers before the new proposal
As soon as he grasped the information in the media, Mr. Dang Dien (Ha Dong ward, Hanoi) quickly ordered an emergency escape hammer product for his family car. He shared that the product is quite compact, does not take up much space in the car cabin. "The equipment is reasonable to ensure safety for myself and my loved ones when unfortunately encountering unexpected incidents on the road" - Mr. Dien said.
As for Mr. Nguyen Tien The Dan (Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi), he has proactively prepared both a window breaker and a 1000ml mini fire extinguisher on his personal car right from the time he first bought the car to prevent emergencies. Mr. Dan assessed: "This proposal is quite reasonable. Even if it is not related to vehicle registration standards, drivers should also equip this tool in their car to ensure safety in unwanted situations".

In fact, equipping escape hammers is now a mandatory regulation for passenger transport business lines under contract, urban buses or fixed-route vehicles. Expanding to other car lines is seen as a solution to increase safety and self-rescue for traffic participants. This adjustment helps supplement essential backup tools, supporting drivers to better respond to collision risks or force majeure incidents on the streets.
In addition, drivers also expressed their desire that the drafting agency should have more specific guidance regulations, such as: technical regulations for this type of equipment, the required number of hammers corresponding to how many emergency exits of each specific car segment so that people can easily implement them accurately.
In addition to regulations on escape hammers, the draft National Technical Regulation on inspection of motor vehicles participating in road traffic this time also upgrades a number of other strict criteria when evaluating vehicles. Typically, errors related to wipers including unstable installation, abnormal operation or not ensuring visibility will be tightened control. In addition, cars with electric horns emitting volumes below 87 dB(A) or exceeding the threshold of 112 dB(A) will also be classified as not meeting registration standards according to the new regulations.
