United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), under state-owned technology corporation Rostec, announced that it has produced and handed over batches of Su-30SM2 multirole fighters and Su-34 fighter-bombers to the Russian Ministry of Defense under the state defense procurement program, TASS reported on July 9.
According to Rostec, all of these fighter jets have completed ground tests and test flights as prescribed before being transferred to task units.
A Su-30SM2 pilot said that the receiving crew received the aircraft as planned to meet the target of handing over weapons and military equipment set by the Russian Defense Minister.
The Su-30SM2 multi-role fighter jet with superior maneuverability is one of the most modern aircraft in service with the Russian Armed Forces. I would like to thank the factory team for their efforts in the process of manufacturing this aircraft line," said the Su-30SM2 pilot.
UAC General Director Vadim Badekha emphasized that the group's fighter jets are continuing to be upgraded based on experience from Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.
UAC facilities are producing and handing over equipment according to the state defense procurement program on schedule. In parallel with the handover of equipment, we continue to improve aircraft lines, including taking into account the experience gained from special military operations," he said.
According to UAC, the Su-30SM2 is an additional version developed from the aircraft line currently serving in the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Russian Navy's air force.
This enterprise said that the Su-30SM2 possesses high flight capability and superior maneuverability. After a deep modernization process, the aircraft's combat capability has been significantly expanded.
The Su-30SM2's radar system can detect targets at significantly greater distances than its predecessor, while allowing accurate attacks on many types of targets on land, in the air and at sea without entering areas within the combat scope of the enemy's air defense system" - UAC emphasized.
For the Su-34, UAC pointed out that this is a fighter-bomber designed to attack targets on land, on water and in the air, as well as infrastructure with air defense systems and located far from the departure base. The aircraft can also perform aerial reconnaissance missions.
A Su-34 pilot of the Russian Aerospace Forces assessed this as "a very good aircraft system with great development potential in the future". The pilot also said that the Su-34 can carry many different types of weapons, including modern weapons, to perform assigned tasks.
