Selling supports, buyers expect
Every night, Ms. Nguyen Van Anh (An Nhon ward, Ho Chi Minh City) often spends time "surfing" e-commerce platforms.
"To ensure that the goods received are the same as what the seller recommends, I often check very carefully, but sometimes I also encounter poor quality products, I suspect that the seller has hired seeding (to leave virtual comments) to increase prestige, so online buyers like me can easily lose confidence when buying on e-commerce platforms" - Ms. Nguyen Van Anh said.
In the context of strong e-commerce development but still existing many shortcomings in goods quality, marketing ethics and lack of synchronization in tax obligations, the new regulation is considered a necessary step.
Accordingly, e-commerce platforms will have to strictly control the legal information of sales partners, including tax codes, input invoices, documents proving the origin of products, number of quality standards announcement... Not only tightening financial obligations, this regulation also forces sellers to comply with transparent requirements on goods and business origin.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - a cosmetics trader on TikTok Shop - said: "Previously, many sellers avoided taxes and circumvented the law, so competition was not healthy. Now that the tax collection floor is open, everyone will create a more fair playground.
From the perspective of consumers, Ms. Dang Hoang Dieu Linh (HCMC) hopes: "If platforms force sellers to clearly declare the origin of goods, have clear tax codes and invoices, online shopping will be much more secure. That also means fundamental protection of consumer rights".
Enterprises are ready to adapt
Ho Chi Minh City is not only a consumer locomotive but is also expected to become the e-commerce center of the country.
Towards this goal, Mr. Tran Quoc Bao - member of the Board of Directors of Kido Group - proposed to reduce floor fees so that businesses have more resources for reinvestment. At the same time, he proposed to shift the activities of the industry association to the digital environment and establish a separate e-commerce channel for Vietnamese goods.
With the increasingly important role of e-commerce in Vietnam, tax management on platforms helps create a more transparent and fair digital business environment.
Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - representative of TikTok Vietnam emphasized: "With the new tax policy, the platform plays an intermediary role, performing the task of collecting personal income tax and corporate income tax from individuals participating in the e-commerce platform. From that, it can be seen that transactions on e-commerce platforms are managed very strictly".
According to Mr. Thanh, TikTok has been actively coordinating with authorities in deploying tools to support declaration, ensuring tax obligations are properly and fully implemented. Not only is it about complying with the law, it is also a way for platforms to increase their reputation and trust from users.
Experts say that transferring tax obligations to the exchange not only helps increase budget revenue, but also restores discipline for the ever-expanding e-commerce market. transparency is a vital factor of the digital business environment and to achieve that, the role of "gateway guards" of e-commerce platforms is indispensable.
