On June 26, 2025, the Domestic Market Management and Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) opened the Exhibition House with the theme " Identifying violating goods during the Peak Month against trade fraud, counterfeit goods, goods violating intellectual property rights" to promote, raise public awareness and demonstrate strong determination in the fight against counterfeit goods, goods violating intellectual property rights in the market.
At this exhibition, over 300 products violated the Market Management force's inspection and seizure during the Peak Month of anti-smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, goods violating intellectual property rights in a number of provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh... were displayed to help consumers identify.
The products on display include: handbags, leather wallets, shoes, watches, perfumery, cosmetics... with packaging, logos, labels that violate intellectual property rights. Many products have the potential to affect the health of consumers, especially cosmetics and perfumes of poor quality and unknown origin.
Among them, many counterfeit products are almost completely in the form, style, and identification signs of famous brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, YSL, Rolex, Nike, Adidas, etc.
Typically, there are Hermes handbag products, Rolex watches, Hublot, Chanel glasses, Gentle Monster, Gucci belts that QCMT forces seized at Saigon Square Shopping Center (HCMC), tourist streets in Da Nang City, cosmetics stores in Quang Ninh.
Speaking to Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Management and Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) assessed that currently, violators are using many increasingly sophisticated tricks to deceive the authorities.
"In the coming time, the Department will step up market inspection and control, not only in the e-commerce environment but also directly at the points of sale of counterfeit goods and goods of unknown origin. At the same time, it is recommended that ministries and branches, according to their assigned functions and tasks, together with the People's Committees of provinces and cities, direct local authorities to closely coordinate and strictly handle violations according to the law" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh also affirmed that right after the peak month, the Department will continue to strongly implement inspection activities of items related to food safety, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and functional foods. Coordination with functional forces will be maintained regularly, in order to strictly control and strictly handle violations.
Regarding policy, the Department has proposed amending Decree 98/2020/ND-CP, including raising administrative sanctions for acts of trading in counterfeit and prohibited goods, especially violations of food and pharmaceutical safety. The penalty is expected to double compared to the current level, and criminal liability will be considered for serious violations that affect public health.
The exhibition room is open to serve people, businesses and organizations and individuals from June 26 to July 3, 2025, an important communication highlight in the series of peak activities, contributing to building a healthy, transparent and safe consumer market.
