
New regulations to protect consumers and collect taxes
On the afternoon of June 19, at a regular press conference, answering about the issue of preventing counterfeit goods and counterfeit goods in the e-commerce environment, Mr. Hoang Ninh - Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy affirmed that not everything on e-commerce platforms is fake.
"In the first 6 months of 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested the platforms to remove more than 33,000 products as well as handle more than 11,000 stalls in violation. This is a large number in e-commerce management" - Mr. Hoang Ninh emphasized.
According to Mr. Ninh, the new Law on E-commerce is expected to include many regulations to protect consumers, notably identifying sellers to help trace the origin.
"Recently, on e-commerce platforms, when online shops are found to be violating, they will close to open other shops. However, if the seller is identified, we will know who that person is, thereby facilitating consumer protection, traceability as well as tax collection if related" - Mr. Ninh said.
In addition, the new Law will require e-commerce platforms to further promote their role and greater responsibility in reviewing and screening counterfeit and counterfeit goods.
In addition, cross-border e-commerce platforms will be required to register legal entities or authorize a legal entities in Vietnam to carry out consumer protection activities in case of disputes as well as detect the sale of counterfeit and counterfeit goods.
Violating sellers may be deported from the floor
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will implement 4 solutions to prevent counterfeit, counterfeit, and intellectual property infringement: perfect institutions; increase the application of new technologies such as AI, blockchain, etc. Thereby helping to trace the origin of goods, review counterfeit, and counterfeit goods; increase propaganda to help people distinguish between counterfeit and counterfeit goods in the online environment.
"There cannot be branded goods priced at 15,000 - 20,000 VND online. If there are no buyers, there will be no sellers. If people are well aware, counterfeit goods and counterfeit goods will be eliminated in the online environment" - Mr. Hoang Ninh affirmed.
Finally, it is necessary to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation to resolve disputes and handle units without legal entities in Vietnam.
Mr. Ninh also emphasized the importance of coordination with agencies and ministries to prevent counterfeit goods and counterfeit goods from the origin, from the place of production, and from distribution sources.
Speaking further about this issue, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized that when there is feedback, e-commerce platforms must be responsible for coordinating with market management agencies to handle it immediately.
