In particular, the export turnover of the province to the US market in 2023 was 70.98 million USD (accounting for 5.91% of the province's exports); In 2024, it reached 76.78 million USD (accounting for 6.07% of the province's exports). Particularly, the first 2 months of 2025 was US $ 6.84 million (accounting for 3.74% of the province's exports).

When there was information that the US announced the application of a common tax rate of 46% to Vietnam, including frozen seafood, at first it was affected by psychology, shrimp prices decreased, businesses were slow to buy, but now that they have overcome this mentality, businesses have taken steps to prepare, raw shrimp prices are gradually recovering.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su said that the province has worked many times with enterprises processing seafood for export. The province recommends that businesses actively coordinate with relevant agencies to remove difficulties, especially those in handling goods. At the same time, promote other market promotions to prevent shrimp supply disruptions.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the departments and branches to propose the Vietnam Association of Processing and Export (VASEP) to coordinate with the central ministries and branches to follow and update the situation on the tax rate to localities and businesses. At the same time, propose to the Provincial Party Committee to direct the Party Committee to pay attention to the production work, especially promoting the propaganda so that people can feel secure. Proposing the Ministry of Industry and Trade to focus on the topic of fisheries in the US market in monthly briefings, clarifying some contents to come to the results of the expected tax rate. The Government urgently has a package to support enterprises to temporarily store raw materials and other necessary support policies to contribute to removing difficulties for businesses.
Expanding the consumption market
Shrimp products in Ca Mau province are exported to more than 90 countries and territories, including the US market. Therefore, if there is an unofficial impact on the tax rate from the United States, the impact of the Ca Mau shrimp industry is not large because there are many other potential markets.
According to feedback from Ca Mau shrimp export enterprises at the meeting with provincial leaders, after the US announced a new counterpart tax rate for imported goods from Vietnam, seafood processing and export enterprises with export turnover to the US have proactively proposed response solutions.
