Ca Mau - In response to the information that the US has imposed a 46% tax rate on many items in Vietnam, the province has asked seafood processing enterprises and shrimp farmers to stay calm.

On April 7, Ca Mau province officially notified businesses and people in this province to assess the impact of the US application of import tax rates on goods from Vietnam on the Ca Mau seafood industry.

Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee asked the province's fisheries processing and export enterprises to ensure the purchase of raw shrimp for people to stabilize production; Do not let people be too worried due to shrimp prices, leading to massively harvest, stop production, breaking the provincial shrimp chain chain. Proactively remove difficulties and obstacles of the unit, promptly report and propose the authorities and functional agencies to support the removal to ensure production and business plans; Raising awareness and responsibility to accompany local authorities to overcome difficulties and challenges today.

Previously, Ca Mau province held many meetings to listen to businesses' opinions to remove difficulties and respond to the US tax information corridor.

Ca Mau has 5 seafood exporting enterprises to the United States, with a turnover of 12.86 million USD.

Immediately after the US announced the tax rate on imported goods from Vietnam, Vietnamese enterprises did not dare to bid, sign for sale, and at the same time stopped exporting goods under contracts to US customers.

According to the evaluation of businesses, the current amount of goods produced under the signed contract and the output signed the contract, but has not produced goods with American customers is still very large. If the announcement tax rate does not change, forecasting the export situation to the US market will face difficulties, not even implemented, the export turnover to the US market has plummeted, affecting the overall export turnover of the province.

Meanwhile, raw shrimp prices immediately decreased sharply. The price of deep-seasoned, super-deep-seasoned white-leg shrimp has decreased by 4,000 to 15,000 VND/kg in just 2 days.

According to reports from a number of businesses and functional sectors, the reason comes from shrimp farmers waiting for the tax rate situation from the US, afraid that shrimp prices will drop, so many people decide to harvest.
