Through inspecting the compliance with the law on protecting consumer rights, the National Competition Commission has issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against TikTok Pte. Ltd Company (headquarters at No. 1 Raffles Quay, No. 26-10, Singapore) with an amount of 880 million VND for the following violations:
1. There is no mechanism for consumers to choose to allow or not allow the use of consumer information to advertise and introduce products, goods, and services.
2. Regulations and clauses are not allowed to be stipulated in general transaction conditions according to regulations.
3. Causing confusion for consumers by providing incomplete information about the content and transaction characteristics between consumers and business organizations and individuals.
4. Not promulgating appropriate orders, procedures, methods or measures for each vulnerable consumer group to ensure the right to complain, request dispute resolution and other rights of vulnerable consumers.
The National Competition Commission has requested the Company to stop violations, proactively review and improve contents and policies, ensuring full and accurate compliance with the provisions of the law protecting consumer rights.
