Through inspecting the compliance with the law on protecting consumer rights, the National Competition Commission has issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against VNG Group Joint Stock Company (headquarters at No. Z06 Street No. 13, Tan Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) with a fine of 810 million VND for the following violations:
1. Do not set up a method for consumers to choose the scope of information they agree to provide and express their agreement or disagreement according to regulations for some information.
2. There is no mechanism for consumers to choose to allow or not allow the use of consumer information to advertise, introduce products, goods, services and other commercial activities.
3. Regulations and clauses are not allowed to be stipulated in general transaction conditions according to regulations.
4. General transaction conditions do not specify the application time.
5. Not publicizing the process of receiving and resolving consumer feedback, requests, and complaints in the form of posting them in an easily visible location at the headquarters, business location and posting them on electronic information pages and application software according to regulations.
6. Not publicizing to vulnerable consumers the contents, mechanisms, and policies applied to vulnerable consumers according to regulations.
The National Competition Commission has requested the Company to stop violations, proactively review and improve contents and policies, ensuring full and accurate compliance with the provisions of the law protecting consumer rights.
Immediately after working and receiving the Sanction Decision, VNG Group Joint Stock Company showed a receptive spirit, proactively coordinated with the National Competition Commission to review, update and improve related content and policies. Up to now, the enterprise has completed overcoming some shortcomings and is in the process of urgently completing other contents.
