On January 30, Ho Chi Minh City organized working groups with Central Retail Group (Top Market Thao Dien supermarket, An Khanh ward), Bach Hoa Xanh to inspect the preparation of goods sources to serve city residents celebrating Spring and welcoming Tet.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that units, especially distribution systems, not only meet local consumption needs but also serve workers to buy goods to bring home as gifts after a year of working in the city. This year, Ho Chi Minh City is larger in scale than last year, with a larger population, so the requirements for preparing goods sources are also higher.
In the context of recent times, functional agencies have continuously detected cases related to goods that do not meet quality standards, have unclear origins, and pose potential risks to consumer health, it is extremely necessary for businesses and large distribution systems to proactively prepare sufficient sources of goods, ensuring both quantity and quality, and supplying them to the market at reasonable prices to serve people during Tet.
At large distribution systems, the preparation of sources this year is being implemented early, associated with price stabilization solutions and strengthening promotional programs to support consumers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van - Communications Director of Central Retail Vietnam Group said: "Currently, the unit is implementing many price activities with continuous promotions from now until Tet. Every two weeks, the system has new promotions, helping consumers have more choices and diverse shopping experiences".
To ensure supply for Tet, Central Retail has proactively increased the quantity of goods by 25-30% compared to normal days. At the same time, the business has a plan to sell throughout Tet, in order to serve people fully and conveniently, contributing to bringing a complete Tet season.
At the same time, the preparation of goods sources at Bach Hoa Xanh system is also being implemented methodically. According to business representatives, this year's goods sources are carefully prepared, and at the same time, coordination with major brands is strengthened to ensure food safety, prestige and quality. The forecasting of demand and output of goods serving Tet is also better performed than last year.
Mr. Pham Van Trong - General Director of Bach Hoa Xanh said that goods are currently ready at supermarket systems, central warehouses as well as warehouses of suppliers. About 50% of the goods have been brought to supermarkets, ready to serve the Tet season. Key items include beer, soft drinks, confectionery and typical Tet products.
A noteworthy new point this year is that the Bach Hoa Xanh system will be open until the evening of the 29th of Tet, close to the New Year's Eve, in order to better meet the shopping needs of consumers.
Regarding prices and promotions, businesses implement according to the market stabilization orientation of the Department of Industry and Trade. We strive to work with suppliers to maintain stable prices, especially for essential goods and fresh goods - items that often fluctuate strongly in the period near Tet" - Mr. Pham Van Trong said.
In addition, this year the system continues to strengthen coordination with gardeners to pre-package fruit products to serve Tet, supplying them on peak times, helping consumers have more choices of fresh and delicious fruits to use and worship Tet.
Regarding the total supply, the enterprise has prepared about 2,600 tons of food; about 2,000 tons of pork and beef; about 1,500 tons of poultry; and about 2,000 tons of processed food. With this amount of goods, the supply of goods during Tet in Ho Chi Minh City is guaranteed, without worrying about shortages.
