Near the Lunar New Year, people's shopping and consumption demand increases sharply, leading to the risk of counterfeit goods, fake goods, and goods of unknown origin mixing into the market.
Recently, Market Management Team No. 9 (QLTT) in coordination with Linh Xuan Ward People's Committee conducted a surprise inspection of two business establishments in the area. Through initial inspection, functional forces discovered and seized a total of 4,400 pairs of men's underwear of various types, bearing foreign logos and brands but without invoices, documents, unclear origin and origin. These goods show signs of intellectual property infringement, with a total value of more than 65 million VND. The inspection team made a record and temporarily seized all violating goods for further handling according to legal regulations.
Previously, in the last week of 2025, Market Management Team No. 9 also issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against a business establishment trading in fake foreign brand sandals. This establishment was fined 45 million VND and forced to destroy 1,801 units of violating products.

Market Management Team No. 19 recently also coordinated with Ben Cat Ward Police and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station Area 5 (Ho Chi Minh City Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary) to conduct a surprise inspection of a company in Ben Cat ward. Through inspection, functional forces discovered that the facility was storing and trading 744 kg of pork, fish and duck meat of unknown origin, with a total estimated value of more than 38 million VND.
Reality shows that the situation of producing and trading in counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights and goods of unknown origin and origin continues with many increasingly sophisticated and professional methods. This is a burning issue, directly affecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, and at the same time reducing the prestige and revenue of legitimate businesses and business establishments.
Consumers are increasingly finding it difficult to distinguish between genuine and fake goods, leading to suspicion and hesitation when shopping. In addition, because fake goods often have diverse designs, eye-catching forms and selling prices much lower than genuine goods, a part of consumers, although aware of poor quality, still accept to buy because of limited economic conditions. This inadvertently creates output for fake and counterfeit goods, causing violations to continue to exist persistently.
Faced with increased consumer demand at the end of the year, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management force is deploying a peak period, launching a total campaign to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods on all three fronts: sea, sea border and domestic market.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy - Deputy Head of Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Sub-Department - said that the Market Management force has proactively coordinated with Customs, Border Guards, Police, Maritime Port Authority... to inspect and strictly handle violations within their authority.
In addition, the HCMC Market Management Sub-Department promotes the application of information technology, using electronic market management data to monitor online business activities, detect violations early; at the same time, strengthen propaganda and mobilize people and businesses to do business in accordance with the law, contributing to creating a comprehensive strength in the work of preventing and combating counterfeit goods in the area.
