Regarding the preparation of goods for Tet, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City said that the output of essential goods is expected to account for 25-43% of the market share.
Expected to supply nearly 8,000 tons of rice, 5,000 tons of livestock meat, 5,500 tons of poultry meat, 23 million poultry eggs, 800 tons of processed foods, 10,000 tons of vegetables and fruits...
Currently, the market has reached its peak 2 weeks before Tet, supermarket systems and convenience stores have increased human resources and service capacity, avoiding empty shelves or customer congestion when shopping.
Supermarkets and stores... have planned to open almost throughout Tet, only closing on the first day. Only Family Mart, GS25, Kingfood Mart... will open throughout Tet.
"Enterprises have also prepared plans to increase production when necessary and organize mobile sales to handle unusual fluctuations and local shortages if any," said Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong.
Regarding the preparation of Tet goods at the unit market, Mr. Nguyen Dang Phu - Deputy Director of Binh Dien Wholesale Market said that the closer to Tet, the more goods arrive at the market. However, traders are still worried that purchasing power is weaker than in previous years.
"This year's prices are stable and do not increase, so consumers can feel secure when shopping for Tet goods. Currently, the purchasing power of typical Tet goods is higher than last week, especially dried goods with the highest purchasing power compared to other goods," said Mr. Phu.
Businesses are also expecting increased purchasing power near Tet. Mr. Phan Van Dung - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Livestock Industry Corporation (Vissan) said that although the price of live pigs has increased, the company still ensures stable sales prices for people.
It is expected that during Tet, Vissan will supply the market with about 1,000 tons of hot pork along with 1,000 tons of frozen pork.
"In general, pork products are not in short supply, but businesses are worried about excess supply affecting inventory. This is the most difficult problem for manufacturers as well as suppliers of goods during the Lunar New Year," said Mr. Phan Van Dung.
With abundant supply, stable prices and plans to serve throughout Tet, people can feel secure in shopping. This not only ensures consumer demand but also contributes to maintaining market stability during the biggest holiday season of the year.
