On September 18, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Chi Hung met with the Organizing Committee of the 2nd Vietnam International Rice Industry Festival - Can Tho 2026 on preparations.
At the meeting, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (NNMT) of Can Tho City Nguyen Hoang Anh announced the Decision on the establishment of the Organizing Committee of the 2nd Vietnam Rice Industry International Festival - Can Tho 2026.
Regarding the progress of task implementation assigned in the Plan to organize the 2nd Vietnam International Rice Industry Festival - Can Tho in 2026, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Thi Giang quickly informed about the organizational advisory work; advisory work on the selection of event organizing units/contractors and finance; advisory work on preparing the contents of Conferences, Contests, demonstrations, tourism visits; exhibition and introduction of OCOP products and industry achievements; logistics work.
Regarding the preparation of 25,000 rice pots to be displayed at the Festival, Ms. Giang said that the transplanting for lot 1, including 19,000 pots/25,000 pots, has been completed to deliver enough 18,000 pots as required, ensuring progress and applying appropriate farming techniques.
In addition, seedlings have been made and 2,000 pots have been sown to prepare for transplanting next week, in order to provide 2,000 rice pots for the display of rice in the flowering stage.
The cultivation of CTR and CT rice varieties to serve the Agriculture and Environment sector's achievement exhibition area is currently completed with 300 large pots (4 bushes/pot). It is expected that by November 20, the rice at the stage of ripening will ensure the quality of the displayed products as required.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Tran Chi Hung assigned the City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to summarize and complete the draft decision on the establishment of Sub-committees to serve the 2nd Vietnam Rice Industry International Festival - Can Tho in 2026.
In addition, complete the invitation of businesses to participate in contributing ideas to organize the Festival event. After the receipt period expires, the City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will evaluate, summarize and propose options for selection to advise the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee for consideration.
Based on this result, departments, branches and related units need to quickly coordinate to complete the program according to the Festival organization plan approved by the City People's Committee. In which, identify the contents that need to be focused on, assign specific tasks to Sub-committees and departments, branches, agencies, and related units to develop implementation plans.
In the process of implementation, Sub-committees and coordinating agencies and units need to regularly exchange and discuss to promptly agree on work contents.
In particular, in its role as a standing unit, the city Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for monitoring and urging relevant agencies and units in the implementation process; advising the Organizing Committee to direct and remind when necessary. At the same time, summarizing comments, existing problems and difficulties arising to report and propose timely solutions.
