On the morning of July 15, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Tien Phong newspaper to organize a workshop "Preserving swallows associated with sustainable development of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest brand".
Swiftlet populations are under great pressure
Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that the work of preserving and developing swiftlet resources is currently under great pressure.

Notably, the situation of illegal swiftlet hunting using invisible nets, extermination traps and many other forms of law violations is still complicated.
According to Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, Khanh Hoa is implementing many solutions to strengthen management and protection of swallow flocks, strictly handle illegal hunting acts, towards the goal of preserving endemic resources and sustainable development of the bird's nest industry.

Brands are often counterfeited
At the workshop, Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Van - Chairwoman of the Member Council of Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest State-owned Company MTV assessed that "Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest" is both a famous landmark with natural bird's nest islands and a brand built and developed by the enterprise for many years.
Therefore, this is also a brand that is frequently copied and used illegally for unfair competition.
Worryingly, along with the development of e-commerce, violations are shifting strongly to the digital environment.
Many subjects use Facebook, TikTok, websites, e-commerce platforms, fan pages and online sales accounts to promote and trade products bearing the sign "Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest"...

According to a business representative, the characteristic of this group of violators is that they can easily change account names, contact addresses or create new accounts after being handled, causing many difficulties for monitoring, collecting evidence and handling violations.
In addition to the illegal use of the phrases "Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest", "Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest", "Khanh Hoa Island Salanganes Nest", many products also simulate almost the entire identity of genuine products such as packaging, images of swallows, Khanh Hoa swallow islands, colors, fonts, logos...
According to Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Van, the situation of intellectual property infringement not only causes direct damage to trademark owners but also affects consumers, the competitive environment, state management and the image of Khanh Hoa province's specialties.
From the above reality, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company proposes to shift from handling each case to managing intellectual property assets and brand risk management proactively; promote the application of science and technology, artificial intelligence in monitoring and early warning of violations in the digital environment.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Can, currently Acting Director of the Institute of Intellectual Property Science (VIPRI), recommends that for Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest One Member Limited Liability Company, the long-term goal is to build an integrated intellectual property asset management system based on three mutually supporting pillars.
The first pillar is to establish and expand rights through a proactive registration strategy for existing brands; the second pillar is to exploit and develop value, by maintaining the specific quality of products, and improving the commercial value of intellectual property portfolios.
The third pillar is the protection of rights, based on market supervision mechanisms, evidence management, industrial property appraisal and timely application of administrative, civil or criminal measures when there is sufficient legal basis.
