According to information from the Lang Son Provincial Customs Department, in 2024, import and export turnover through border gates in Lang Son reached a record level.
Accordingly, it is estimated that by December 31, 2024, the total import-export turnover of goods through the province of all types will reach approximately 70 billion USD, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2023.
The Department also carried out customs procedures for the luggage of passengers entering and exiting the country, reaching over 3 million arrivals during the year.
The total number of enterprises participating in electronic customs procedures is 4,400, an increase of 28% over the same period in 2023, with a total of 170,000 declarations, an increase of 12% over the same period in 2023.
Regarding state budget collection, in 2024, Lang Son Provincial Customs Department was assigned a state budget collection target of 5,000 billion VND.
By the end of December 10, 2024, the entire Department had collected 7,100 billion VND, reaching 142% of the assigned target and increasing by 148.4% over the same period in 2023. It is estimated that by the end of 2024, the revenue could reach 7,400 billion VND.
Explaining the reason for achieving the above impressive figure, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai - Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department said that, although Lang Son province was affected by many natural disasters, especially storm No. 3, goods export activities were still bustling at Huu Nghi border gates, Dong Dang International Railway Station, Chi Ma, Tan Thanh.
From May 27, 2024, Vietnam and China have officially operated customs clearance routes and dedicated roads at the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate pair, thereby increasing the efficiency of customs clearance of import and export goods through the area, basically transforming completely from border trade transactions to official trade.
"Also in the past year, the last COVID-19 prevention measures were completely lifted. Accordingly, the delivery of goods through Lang Son's border gates was fully implemented in accordance with the commitments in the agreements, protocols related to Vietnam-China road transport and legal regulations.
Thanks to that, goods are cleared through Lang Son border gates conveniently and there is a rapid increase in the number of vehicles transporting goods across the border," said Mr. Tai.
In particular, in 2024, Lang Son will officially start construction of a smart border gate after the Prime Minister approved the project. The province has invested in expanding traffic connections with China at the Huu Nghi Border Gate area with an increase in scale to 8 lanes.
In the third quarter of 2024, the authorities inspected and handled 1,642 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and banned goods, down 9.83% over the same period in 2023.
The total amount of administrative violation handling was nearly 13 billion VND, equal to 62.36% compared to the same period in 2023, the value of confiscated evidence was nearly 1.6 billion VND, 91 cases were prosecuted, with 129 subjects.
Speaking to reporters, the leader of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee said that recently, Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park has just been opened. It is expected that this Park can handle customs clearance of up to 1,500 vehicles/day, contributing to doubling the customs clearance capacity at Lang Son border gate area compared to the present.
From there, it brings with it expectations of breakthroughs in import and export in the coming years.
