According to the General Statistics Office, after 9 months of 2024, electronic products, computers and components exported 52.8 billion USD, imported 79.1 billion USD, total export and import value reached 131.9 billion USD.
With the import value achieved and the current high growth rate, there is every reason to hope that the import turnover of electronics, computers and components will be the first item in history to reach an import value of 100 billion USD by 2024.
According to the World Trade Report, Vietnam is among the world's largest electronics exporting countries, ranking second in the world in exporting mobile phones, and fifth in exporting computers and components.
At the workshop Vietnam - Key factor in Smart Electronics Supply Chain: Integrating innovation to create competitive advantage held on the afternoon of November 28, Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong - Vice President of Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries affirmed that Vietnam has a series of potentials to attract foreign investors in the electronics sector, including 3 main factors: labor; policy; industrial real estate infrastructure.

“Electronics is one of the labor-intensive industries in Vietnam. The electronics industry has the third largest workforce among all processing and manufacturing industries (after textiles and footwear). This is a unique feature of the Vietnamese electronics industry: it is both a capital-intensive and technology-intensive industry and a labor-intensive industry.
Second, the Government is providing many policies and incentives to support electronic businesses. According to Decree No. 31/2021/ND-CP, the production of electronic accessories, components, and electronic assemblies is one of the industries that are encouraged and enjoy investment incentives from the Government.
Third, each region in Vietnam has different geographical advantages. If the North has industrial parks (IPs) close to highways, the Central region has the advantage of a long coastline, and the IPs are also built along the coastline, so they are close to seaports, convenient for import and export and trading of goods..." - Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong shared.
However, according to the Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries, most Vietnamese enterprises participating in the electronics industry supply chain are still at a low position, with unstable orders and are still at the bottom of the chain as manufacturing enterprises.
