In order to develop and launch a new mobile telecommunications brand in Vietnam. This is considered a long-term strategic step, opening up a phase of extensive cooperation between the two businesses in the field of digital technology and new generation mobile services.

According to the agreement, the two sides will jointly promote strengths to build a new mobile brand aimed at young customers, users who love technology and have high demand for digital experiences. The project is expected to create synergy between KDDI's technological capacity, international operating experience and VNPT's infrastructure advantages, market coverage and customer understanding.
In which, KDDI will share its experience in developing the digital mobile brand "povo" in Japan - a prominent model thanks to the ability to personalize services and optimize digital experiences for young users. VNPT will play a foundational role with a widespread telecommunications infrastructure, a diverse digital service ecosystem and a nationwide distribution network, creating conditions for new brands to quickly access the Vietnamese market.

Speaking at the strategic cooperation announcement ceremony held at KDDI headquarters in Tokyo, Mr. Huynh Quang Liem - Member of the Member Council, General Director of VNPT - highly appreciated the cooperation process between the two sides in the past time, and said that this will be the foundation for VNPT and KDDI to continue to expand strategic cooperation models in the future.
On KDDI's side, Mr. Hiroshi Takezawa - Senior Operations Director of the Group - shared his experience in developing "povo" in Japan and expressed his expectation that the two sides will continue to research and expand more potential cooperation fields in the coming time.
Previously, VNPT and KDDI conducted research and assessment of the feasibility of the project and signed a Business Cooperation Contract on March 10, 2026 in Hanoi. At the announcement ceremony in Tokyo, the two corporations also committed to invest resources in finance, technology and high-quality human resources to implement the project, aiming to bring services to the Vietnamese market in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The new mobile brand is expected to bring a different experience to customers through the combination of Japanese quality standards, KDDI's digital network operator experience and VNPT's infrastructure capacity and market understanding. Not only stopping at the telecommunications sector, cooperation between the two businesses is also expected to contribute to promoting trade, digital transformation and connectivity between Vietnam and Japan in the coming period.
